This movie...was bananas. I'm glad that while the trailers lead up to some of the deaths, they don't give them away. They are so in your face and shocking, but so absurd that you can't help but laugh. Honestly, despite how dark and tense this film was, I was surprised at how much I found myself laughing throughout, like you're so stunned and can't believe that actually happened! This is no slow burn like Longlegs was- this was horrific and hilarious at the same time, and Osgood Perkins understands timing in a way that reminded me of the way that Edgar Wright would do quick cuts.
This absolutely works with a crowd of people, and while Perkins wrote and directed it, you can tell even before the credits that James Wan was a producer because a few scenes here reminded me of the first Saw film. If I don't see this again in theaters, I'll absolutely be purchasing it when it gets a physical release.
