Study says college students most self-centered in years

FINE! I'LL JUST GET RID OF IT ALL TOGETHER!

Way to ruin my signature for everyone else Erz :cmad:
Now where's Hippie Hunter. I bet he still has that Kipobe/Brodie thing in his sig.

i'll trade you, i have to put up with this crap

" no one will understand my view of the world through my art but i refuse to conform to the simpltions that think there actully in control of this planet and my life"

actual quote from a fine art student yesterday
I've heard it before...we got art students too.:o

Taiwarriorz in essence has become the perfect parody of what I deal with on a day to day basis. College, for me, is like a bad relationship. It started off great with lots of sex and drinking and then gradually I found out about all those idiosyncracies I did not know about...and gradually then chipped away at my psyche driving me insane.

One of these days I will run up to my Poli Sci Proffessor and say "If you say one more useless fact about Socrates to me I am going to beat you upside the head with your own reading assignment":cmad:

Thank God, only three and a half more months:o

As an example, Twenge cited a song commonly sung to the tune of "Frere Jacques" in preschool: "I am special, I am special. Look at me."

"Current technology fuels the increase in narcissism," Twenge said. "By its very name, MySpace encourages attention-seeking, as does YouTube."
So that's what Frere Jacques means.
I disagree some about youtube. Yeah, idiots try getting recognition like lonelygirl and those stupid kids who want to act like they're on Jackass, but it's also pretty good to watch pirated movies, and I have some professors who use it for some of their lessons.
I think they should start promoting more rivalries again and not these everyone got a trophy and everyone gets to play. I think it's time to stop coddling kids and show them that yeah you aren't special.
As much as I'm not for creating cliques, I agree with this. Rivalries don't always end up tearing people apart but it creates friendly competition. For those who can't handle it, it's better they find out sooner than later.
And let's bring back spanking not only at home but in the classroom. These kids need to learn how to respect again.

It went away?
:cwink:
Did you say something? I was busy checking my Facebook, MySpace, Friendster, LiveJournal, and Xanga. :o
Yeah those last 3 suck.:o

It went away?
:cwink:

Do you know how many people get in trouble every year for swatting their kids behind because some jackass calls Child Services on them? It's really alarming. And they haven't had corporal punishment in the schools in a long time.

I'm guessing you missed my sarcasm.

I had a Xanga for all of two weeks and I've never had a Friendster. And LiveJournal isn't so bad; it's actually better than MySpace.
Never got a xanga or a friendster.
LiveJournal is lame to me.

It makes sense. The baby boomers were self-absorbed, and their children have picked up this trait.

You are dead on. It reminds me of the books I found at a library about non competive everone wins games. It is best that they learn at an early age that not everyone can win. Especally win just by showing up. Granted my neice knows a little about rivalries due to the fact she plays soccer, but they still do not keep offical score, and right now everyone gets trophies. It is a bad idea to do that.

i have a good art one. When this guy in my class was told to get a bigger book for critical studies because the one he had was barely A6 he replied.
'picasso did it so why can't I?'
and then went on to openly row with the tutor. These people who think they can be different because they are better than everyone else annoy me:cmad:
