What? You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. DC bought Captain Marvel from Whiz comics in the 40's. He is now owned by DC, their was a brief legal battle because of the two heroes simularities, but he wasn't almost erased.

Silver surfer - with ease, he's a demi-god. Empowered by Galactus.

There are already tons of vs. threads. (Marvel Character Tournament, DC Character Tournament, Marvel/DC Character tournament, Lightning Fast Marvel Tournament, etc.) Why not propose some of these to the people running those threads, instead of cluttering the forum with a ton of new ones.

Also, almost all of the matches you posted have been done before. There was a lengthy thread on Wolverine vs. Cap quite recently.

Perfect Storm--I'll give you some leeway since you're new. Instead of making a buttload of new threads, simply make them in the same thread, but a new post. It keeps the forums less cluttered.

Marvel, Shazam

Supes, cap. U.S. don't really have any super powers.

Web-slinger, well can lift about 10 ton's. He would throw a car on him, or something.

Flash is a SoL-runner which is about 360,000 km per sec in vacuum.
Quick-silver is a SoS-runner which is about 0,34 km per sec in water.

Wolverine, since he can regenerate.

Supes, he's not that stupid himself.

Havok, cause he can control his blasts

Spawn, he's immortal

Captain Marvel was originally property of Fawcett Comics (Whiz was the book, not the publisher.) DC sued Fawcett for copyright infringement in 1941. After many years of litigation, a judge ruled in favor of DC in 1952. At that point, superheroes were declining in popularity anyway, so Fawcett decided to just accept the ruling, paid DC a $400,000 settlement, and quit making comics altogether.

When superhero books got popular again in the '60s, Fawcett couldn't bring back Captain Marvel due to the earlier settlement. Finally in 1972 they liscensed him to DC. (Which had to publish his book under the title "Shazam!", since Marvel Comics had snatched up the lapsed trademark on the name "Captain Marvel" in the interim.)

So in summary: The legal action went on for over a decade, and resulted in the character disappearing for 20 years.

At least, that's the version on wikipedia.

I pretty much agree with all of these pics, and Harl's reasoning.

Torch vs. Iceman I could see going either way, depending on how they use their powers.

I could also see Cap vs. Wolverine going either way. Depends on how their relative speed/strength/fighting skill is portrayed. E.g., is this mindless brawler Wolverine, or disciplined samurai Wolverine? Depends on the writer.

I'd pick Surfer over Green Lantern (although if Kyle were Ion, he would win).

For Spidey vs. Wolverine, I agree with the pick, but would like to supply the reason that Spidey is so much faster (and has spider sense) that he should be able to dodge Wolverine's attacks, and is probably strong enough that he should be able to KO him -- but at any rate, he could just tangle him in webbing. He can't cut free if he can't move his arms. (And anyway, it's hard to cut yourself out of something that sticks to you. It'd be like trying to claw your way out of a vat of glue.)

To elaborate on some of the others: Superman is fast enough that he should be able to take out Batman or Cap before they can react (and he's way too strong and durable for them too). Flash is way faster than Quicksilver, and can use his powers in more ways too. Iron Man designed War Machine's armor and could probably shut it down. Plus he's continued to improve his armor since then.

Namor vs. Aquaman could be close, but I think Aquaman's telepathy may decide it in his favor.

Actually, Cap's shield was made of a unique vibranium-steel composite. Adamantium didn't exist yet -- it was later created in a failed attempt to duplicate Cap's shield.

(A lot of sources mistakenly claim Cap's shield is adamantium, though.)

It's also been established that Cap's shield is even more indestructible than adamantium, so you won't see Wolverine burying his claws in it.

(Thor's hammer, made of magically enhanced Uru metal, has been able to dent Cap's shield, however.)
