Superman’s Best Friend: The Krypto Thread

I can't stop thinking about the Krypto scene and just how cute he is, I like that he is a little smaller than the usual depiction. Gives him little guy is stronger than you think vibe.

I've been watching reaction videos all day, and Krypto is constantly getting the biggest reaction. I think including him might have been one of Gunn's smartest decisions. Even just from a marketing perspective, it's a clear and simple way to say "This isn't what you got before."

My girlfriend melts over any dog so this should be an easy win to get her excited for it. I don't think she has seen the trailer yet and will be coming over soon so I'll get to see her first reaction. Babes(m,f), dogs, cool looking film. I'll report back soon with her thoughts.

So I had my gf watch it and..she always makes me laugh, asked how long is the movie going to be? I had to wee but I was still laughing, I came back and asked her why was that her question and she said "there are so many villains, there is godzilla(she said this in jest), lex and the bad guys with Kryptonite ring!" I did explain the green lantern and she laughed and it was good. She was really excited to see Nick Hoult as lex and she did love Krypto!

We then watched two episodes of CC and she was heavily invested...nearly a tear.

She isn't a movie snob and I think she loves watching me be excited about these things but I would say she fall into the general audience and she seems keen.

I hope when Gunn calls Krypto a "terrible dog", he doesn't mean like bad by nature, just not trained, or always steals food or breaks things.

I hope to see a small scene where Superman says to kids, "Go ahead you pet him, he's super friendly." (maybe 'super' sounds on-the-nose or iconic coming from 'Superman' but...)

I hope Krypto isn't all CGI though and Gunn used a real dog actor. I would understand for some scenes needing to enhance his movements and because he is a super dog. Given the shape of his ears, I'd say maybe not. For publicity though, I think it would have been cooler to show the real dog actor. This dog ideally could have gone to the premiere of the movie, not be force though. I don't advocate using wild animals that are tamed to be used for movies at all. But this is a dog, and dogs are domestic animals. I'll never understand why they used a CGI dog for Call of the Wild with Harrison Ford.

Gunn should have used a real dog. I mean Captain Marvel used a real cat actor and adjusted it with CGI as far as I know.

All I will say is Gunn best not kill him off or hurt him, lol

Considering it’s based on his own dog, I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what he meant (bad behaviour but not inherently a bad dog).

And if I recall correctly, they did use a real dog as a base.

That's good but as we saw in the trailer, in that scene, it looked like complete CGI.

I thought Krypto looked pretty damn convincing
