Superman Returns Superman and Spider-Man discuss their franchises.

holy hell that is classic!!!! but so true:(

"woooooohooooo im a father!!!"""""
ahahahaha

holy hell that is classic!!!! but so repliable. :)

LOL! That was great, especially the Superman with the baby one. :woot:

the first one i think was the best

they should however do a batman and wolverine one in reverse making dc out to be better....

the spidey movies misrepresent marvel's movie entries as a whole, considering fantastic four, daredevil, elektra, punisher, blade trinity and x-men the last stand were all terrible...

some would also put hulk in this list.

That's true. Certainly the Spider-Man movies have kicked serious butt for Marvel but outside of those, their "success" has been limited. I don't necessarily think it's a great thing that Marvel is getting all these movies made(considering the end result), quantity does not equal quality. If you look at it all time, then I would say it's pretty even between DC and Marvel.

DC: Superman The Movie, Superman 2(both cuts or one or the other) Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Begins, V for Vendetta

Marvel: Spider-Man 1, 2 and 3, Blade 1, 2, X-Men, X-Men 2

Those listed above I believe most, not everyone, would agree are good films. So, I would say its just about even. Although I do like the fact that Marvel is not afraid to tap into their other characters while DC seems so reluctant to do so.

That's the deciding factor IMO.
The Spider-Man films pretty much have done the best collective effort of faithfully translating the comic book hero to the screen. From the costume on out Spidey on film is mighty close to Spidey on the printed page, that endears the effort to the fan, and gives Marvel a leg up on DC.

The real funny part for me is "progressive directors like....Spider-man's Sam Raimi, Batman's Chris Nolan and X-men's Bryan Singer"

Thats why I posted it, it clearly wasnt meant to be taken seriously at all.

And I liked when he dropped the baby *PLOW*

Marvel: Spider-Man 1, 2 and 3, Blade 1, 2, X-Men, X-Men 2

You may as well add the new Superman up there. With a 77% critical rating score overall, thats better than most of the Marvel attempts......except for Spider-man and Bryan's X-men (even though Spider-man III is currently at 72%)

:woot: A sound effect akin to a crashing piano would have made it even mo' better:woot:

The official critical rankings as of today (for modern Marvel/DC superhero films);

Spider-man 2 (Marvel) 93%

Spider-man (Marvel) 90%

X-2 (Marvel) 87%
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/spiderman/
Batman Begins (DC) 84%

X-men (Marvel) 79%

Superman Returns (DC) 77%

V for Vendetta (DC) 72%

Spider-man III (Marvel) 72%

300 (DC) 61%

Hulk (Marvel) 61%

X:3 (Marvel) 57%

Blade 2 (Marvel) 56%

Blade (Marvel) 52%

Daredevil (Marvel) 44%

Ghost Rider (Marvel) 28%

Fantastic Four (Marvel) 26%

Blade 3 (Marvel) 26%

Catwoman (DC) 10%

Elektra (Marvel) 9%

With the exception of Spider-man (1+2) and X-men (1+2), most of the Marvel attempts rank lower than Batman and Superman. Catwoman is the only real DC dud.

I highlighted X2 because its also proof how Bryan can build on a first film to a more action-oriented sequel while making it a more critically successful film as well. Something which isnt easy.

^ Where are the ratings from, Justice Bringer?

You're right, I didn't put in SR because reaction has been so mixed(mainly on these boards), it's really a hard film to gauge. But it definitely has a solid critical rating, so it should go up there.

Its mixed on these boards now with whatever little regulars are left, but check out the original rating thread for SR when it came out; the huge official review one..

The vast majority of SHH placed it in the 7-10 range....correlating with the critical rating.

I love DC to death, but those were really, really hiliarious. I laughed out loud right in my office...and I'm not much of a laugh-er.

:woot:

Truth is that - being aware of Spiderman's financial success, which is truly its triumph - it's as fauthful or unfaithful as many other comic books adaptations.

I just came of watching 300. Impressive, to say the least. Visually. But we must appreciate a good style over subtsance film for what it is.

Well ofcourse. It IS Batman and Superman. The only marvel icons that can even compete with them in popularity would be the X-men and Spider-man. Oh and sorry to say this but you forgot Steel.

Now I don't care if people did not like Superman Returns, that's great, but every time they use Spider-Man as an example of how to do it right,THAT, gets to me. My God those films are barely better story wise than the last lot of Batman films and my GOD! I just came back from watching the third one and it was a complete incoherent mess on par with Batman and Robin. It has to be the most poorly written, cheesiest films I've seen in a long while where the cast looks just as tired with it as Sam Raimi probably is and people really want Superman to follow this template. Maybe I just prefer this genre of film done in the style of things like Batman Begins, Heroes, and yes, Superman Returns where it seems to take place in the real world with less "broad" acting wherein Spider-Man is !00% pure mozzarella. Now I don't care if this this thing makes half a billion dollars or whatever because if that's the only sign of a good film then we deserve crap like this that seems to be more prevalent every year.

Yea, the early reviews for SM3 are kinda shaky.

And I don't consider 'Steel' part of the modern films. Its more of a 90s attempt

That Spiderman toy should go and see Spiderman 3. I just saw it today and I'll need therapy to recover from that piece of crap. :o
