After the novel, we seem to have alot more details about Kal-El's journey to Krypton.

It appears Superman was in a cryogenic sleeping tube for the entire trip and back....

The big question is; Kara Zor-El was also in cryogenic freeze for over 30 years after the destruction of Krypton. She was put into the stasis as a 16 year old girl, and came out of it 30 years later....the same age.

This could be a possible explanation to why Superman is still in his late 20s after these years.

It still doesnt explain why no other characters seem to have aged much Jimmy is still basically a kid/young adult and lois is still meant to be a late twenty something.

While this is a good explanation i think it wont be explained in the movie at all

Jimmy was a teenager before Superman left, now apparently hes in his early 20s. He seems to be legal drinking age (from the bar scene where he appears to be drinking).

Lois could have been 24 when Superman left, now shes 29. I dont mind Superman originally being some years older than Lois (about 4-5 years older).....Donner originally had him considerably older than Lois in the first STM cut.

In regards to the aging...I feel this is one area where the "suspension of disbelief" has to come into play...like in the James Bond movies, bond never ages...and in the comic book the main characters don't age...I have been collecting comics for a long time and lois looks younger now then she did in 1986 when superman was re-invented.

that's true, he was a teenager when she was a kid and saw him on the train.
but honestly its just like Singer said, where going to have to suspend belief. Hopeful their acting will allow people to do that

I dought big time reporter lois lane was 24 years old kane, when superman left. Jimmy looks atleast 21, and Lois looks 21 years old as well. They don't need to adress it, its unimportant really.

I guess Supes just ages like James Bond from movie to movie,Lois though is a different story mainly b/c of the kid

Superman's cells are near indestructible and don't age and deteriorate like humans in the comics. Typically he either ages very slowly or in reverse proportion - the older he gets, the slower he ages. It's like how Wolverine is probably 70+ years old as he existed in WWII since his mutant healing factor means his cells heal themselves and don't age. Superman reaches maturity in the same period as typical human beings, his powers developing along the way, but once he reaches adult maturity, his age is almost static if not inversely proportional.

Even Kryptonians with their Red Sun typically lived for thousands of years each...although they had medical technology and genetics to help them...millenia of perfecting their own genes is also why Superman is such a perfect being even without the yellow sun solar-charging him to nigh-omnipotence/immortality because his parents were genetically flawless, the product of eons of Kryptonian genetic engineering.

Superman acts like solar battery and wouldn't age unless he is away from a yellow sun for hundreds of years. In most time travelling or even Superman else-world's stories, Superman outlives Lois by a large margin. He could theoretically live for millions of years if exposed to enough solar radiation.

Who said she was a big time reporter before he left?

She seems to only be a bigtime reporter now in SR, after winning her Pulitzer and getting fame.

Before she seemed to be working her way up. 24 isnt a bad age. She could have worked internship with the DP in college (like Smallville's Chloe Sullivan) and started working there full-time right after.

She certainly wasnt world renowned or great back then....she was just a regular reporter working her way up.

Yeah, her big story and claim to fame wasn't until she scooped Superman.

That said, it's just a poor choice of actors in my opinion. Erica Durance on Smallville can look older than Bosworth because she is so Waif like. I can't even imagine Bosworth having the snap and attitude of Lois Lane.

all didnt kal-el spend 12 yers training with jor-el?so that would make him 30?

Erica looks older than the entire Smallville cast, thats not a good thing. I dont want another Kidder who looks hagged up and older than Reeve...

Bosworth wasnt bad, I guess it all depends on her acting....if she can play older than her age.

In reality though, Ive seen girls in their late 20s who still look as youthful as Bosworth, so I guess we'll see.

Can that explain why Lois looks 18 too?

Good point. The James Bond argument is gold.

There all secretly Krptonians, Krypton was never destroyed, Clarks ships just circled the planet for five minutes and crashed back down. Its all secretly just a Kryptonian practical joke on a new reality show.............damn Kryptonian sence of humor!

He met up with the Nostromo crew from 'Alien' and borrowed one of their beds. :p

It all kind of has a Griswold Kids vibe to it. Those kids looked different in every movie and their ages chages as well.

i always thougth Lois was older than Superman, i'm pretty sure the comics mentioned her being a couple of years older.

I actually think she's younger than him in the Superman movies. Wasn't she like 6 years old or something when he was running past that train or something?

Some say that Superman doesn't age at all.......so..........

That's the reason why the train scene was cut out of the original version. That would make Clark several years older than Lois. They're supposed to be around the same age.

What I would like to know is if Clark spent 12 years with Jor-El learning, how did he have time to go to college and become a journalist? If I remember, he says that he is 30 years old in the movie. If he did go to college upon coming back to Earth, wouldn't he be a few years older than 30 by the time he becomes a reporter?

The origins arent exactly the same as the Reeve movie. The 12 year fortress thing may not be there. We wont know till the movie and the related comic series.
