You know what I mean. Those shows which you are not looking forward too because the art is bad, or the storyline doesn't normally appeal to you, and then when you watch them you're blown away by how good it is.

Digimon The Movie

I was shocked. I wasn't a fan of the show at all. I had nothing against it it just didn't appeal to my particular taste, but when I was around 15 I had to babysit my younger cousins, so I rented it for the day and watched it with them. It was pretty damn good. The story was interesting, and the animation was very fluid. I really didn't expect much at all considering the quality of the pokemon movies, but this is a good anime film. Though it's been years since i've seen it, Ithink I saw it around 4 times back in the day. I recomend it.

Cherubimon was so badass in that movie it wasnt even funny.
Watch Digimon Savers, i recomend it, greatly.. :yay:

The 1st and 2nd acts are very good.
I can't stand the 3rd act or the stupid armor digivolving.

I actually enjoyed the later installments of .hack that were intended for kids. I figured it would be really toned down in philosphical points of view.

Heh, or you just liked the small children. :oldrazz:

I prefer the orignal .Hack cause i love the music and the philosophical points of view.
Also, that show kept me guessing the whole time cause it was very random.

Well time to go watch my recorded episode of Afro Samurai :word:

:ninja:

For me it was DBZ (It's severly overrated, but I still like it).

I hated this anime with a passion when it came out...partly because of the art and plot, and partly because I felt it was stealing screen time from Sailor Moon.

But then, one day I sat down and watched it....suprised to find myself enjoying it.

Now I don't love the series, but it did capture my interest for a while.

.hack//SIGN was far superior to .hack//Legend of the Twilight. .hack//Legend of the Twilight was just wierd with Shugo and Rena being brother and sister yet...acting a little toooooo close. My sister hates anime and that kind of stuff and makes fun of me for liking it, but she had a kick out of .hack//Legend of the Twilight due to the vast amounts of incest.

If you combine the 3 acts of the Japanese version, 40 minutes were edited out of the US release. Though the US version was alright, I really like the music used in the JPN version and the more dramatic feel to the stories. The 3rd part of the movie was the one that had major editing(30 of 60 minutes out). It was pretty weird, some parts were kinda like Serial Experiments Lain.

I remember the Digimon movie, I was confused as hell because I didn't know what the **** a Digimon was and the story sucked and made no sense.

You probably think that because you don't watch the show.

On another subject.
The thing about the digimon movies that make them standout better than the series, in my opinion, is the animation. The movie actually animates the characters and the digimons movements, aswell as damage to the enviroment with well detail; While the show seems to make it look like a cardboard cut out of a dragon is using fire breath.

^ Just like when lucemon fought, hes so powerful yet, his attacks didnt cause much damage and he was defeated way to easy.imo.

That too, I didn't know who was who in that damn movie. God damned Pokemon ripoff

Digimon isnt a pokemon rippoff. the "Mon" stands for digital monsters.

I was dragged kicking and screaming into watching Cowboy Bebop, but the hype was well-given. This is great!

Other animes I tried on for size were not so wonderful: Key The Metal Idol and Escaflowne come to mind.

You know for some reason I couldn't stop watchin Escaflowne, even though it wasn't THAT great, but I had to know what happens next, like an obsession. Still haven't seenthe movie though.

Blasphemy!!!!
Ripoffs can sometimes be better than the rippie!
Exa:Hetcliff<Garfield
Saints row>gta
Street sharks=TMNT
Xmen>DoomPatrol
And
Digimon>Pokemon

Hokuto Shinken (The Fist of the Northstar)

Possibly the greatest purely MALE anime/manga ever created. Everyone on that show is so ripped they make bodybuilders look like normal folk in comparison.

They story has an interesting feel to it to. Some near-future apocalypse setting,Warlords trying to rebuild civilisation and all that crap. Hell if Chuck Norris was animated, he'd probably be the main character in the show. ANother thing great is to see the violent head explosion

I was surprized when I saw the anime Fushigi Yuugi. This looked like, at first, like an Artimus Foul (sp?) kind of fantasy. I was surprized to find myself really enjoying it! The villains are really cool. That's probably what won me over.

^what is Fushigi Yuugi about? i like the songs, because i have heard of them before, but i never seen the anime.

It's about these two girls who, one day, go to the library. They find this book, and are sucked into it. The main character, Miaka, remains in the book, while her friend, Yui, returns to the normal world. Miaka is made into the Priestess of Suzaku, who is supposed to gather seven warriors to summon a giant bird god. She falls in love with one of her warriors, but manages to find a way home after only gathering three. But, when she goes out, Yui goes in...and that's where the fun begins...

Seriously. The first time I saw it on TAN, I couldn't stop laughing at the thought of such a concept for a show. After wading through it (which to this day, I can't understand why I did), I feel in love with the series. First shoujo anime I've ever watched and enjoyed from start to finish.

I liked Escaflowne for the most part, but it is a little too long and there is build up early in the show that never really goes anywhere.

I actually liked Digimon back in the day, it was certainly a lot better than Pokemon which didn't even try to have a story line or good characters. Stupid advertainment.

There really aren't any shows that I went in thinking I wouldn't like and then being surprised. It's usually the opposite actually.

Newbie here :) Hello everyone.

Anyway, hear, hear for the quote above :)

I like the idea of different people converging into groups, and the villains were, yes, pretty cool too. Never was much a fan of anime before, but this one got me without me noticing it, hehehe.
