Anyone catch the premiere last night? Overall, I thought it was better than last season's. The Ghost Island setup is really cool (I'd love to explore it) but it took time away from what was happening among the tribes, and, as a result, we don't know most of the contestants all that well.

I like Donathan* but have a feeling that his inspirational edit is going to become overbearing.

A tribe swap already? We hardly know the present tribes!

*Is that his real name? Is it a nickname for Donald Jonathan?

I enjoyed it, I was pleased with the 1st vote out. I am not fond of the get up walk and talk during the tribal council. It is so desperate especially early in the game. I can sort of see it during post merge but come on.

Yeah, the first vote out really screwed up by doing that. This early in a season it just makes you look like someone who tries to hard. That said, I think the tribe chose incorrectly as proved by the next immunity challenge.

This seasons gimmick does have some potential, and it's at least better than some artificial separation of people based on some trait like last season.

I forgot about the walk and talk during tribal council. I really hate that. It ought to be banned for future seasons but the powers that be seem not to mind it.

I was listening to "Survivor Know-it-alls" last night and they were talking about Donathan having a "hero" moment in the immunity challenge and it made me think that they were watching a completely different show than me. :) To my eyes he came off really poorly from that whole thing and the other tribe wisely sent him to Ghost Island to make sure that the weakest player would stick around.

It wasn't like he powered through and did it on his own. It wasn't like when Cirie wanted to finish the challenge that one season. Donathan had to be told to after constantly saying how he can't.

I don't mind the guy but they clearly have plans to bring him back for another season. The underdog story like Cochran.

Man, almost everyone who went from purple (Navariti) over to yellow was playing like complete idiots except for Angela who thus managed to get targeted by her own tribe which seemed set on self destruction.

Chris was definitely the instigating moron by insisting that they should target Dominic first, even though he had no reason to think that the people from the other tribe were trustworthy and it was highly likely that his best case scenario was a 4-4 split tribe at the next tribal council.

Dominic, Wendell and Morgan also made a poor decision in targeting Angela since they would very likely have ended up in a 5-3 minority at the next tribal council. Plus their whole pitch to the other side could easily have been taken for an idol play.

James definitely read the whole situation really well and it was great to see how well he understands the game. Definitely raised him into one of the favorite players this season so far. It would have made no sense for him and his alliance to take the deal with old purple since if it was true old yellow would have majority this vote and there would be a pissed off purple left over for next tribal.

I love James and Wendell. I want both of them to go far. Still, I think James will regret not getting rid of Dominick when he had the chance.

Sebastian's also hilarious. "I'm just laffy-taffy, banana flavored." Lolwut? :funny:

I'm glad we got to hear from people who were mute in the premiere. There are a lot of interesting personalities this season.

Ok, I have to admit that the editing of this episode had me completely fooled as to which tribe was going to lose the immunity challenge.

I´m glad that they changed up the format for Ghost Island and made it happen between reward and immunity. As things were it was just way to much power placed into a random rock draw.

Sad to see Brendan go home, he seemed like he was a good player and would have been interesting to have stick around. His alliance tried really hard to sway people but imo made a mistake by telling everyone who they were voting for as it removed any risk for the other players and obviously Bradley wasn't going to vote for himself.

The editing was kind of a mess but I did appreciate how it kept me on my toes. I seriously thought Bradley would go home.

Brendan was dull, so no great loss there. Michael, OTOH, impressed me with how hard he fought at TC, and I enjoy Bradley as an unrepentant villain. This has been a fun season so far.

Season has been okay, but Ghost Island twist is a flop so far. Only 1 person has played the game, some hit urns that didn't have a game, and 1 person declined to play.

Idol play didn't help Michael.
The legacy person has been voted out twice, good thing about that is it gets passed around. Someone will have to use it.

I´m really liking this season so far. I´m glad that the Ghost Island twist isn't to overpowering, if every time someone went to Ghost Island they got something it would turn the season into a mess.

I also think that the editing this season has been much better than in seasons past. They are doing a much better job of keeping me guessing which tribe is going to lose the immunity challenge and which player is then going home.

I also think that this group of players works better than last seasons.

Ghost Island would've been better if idols hadn't been hidden around the island. Of course, production had to save their blue-collar favorite. :whatever:

But I can't complain too much since, as Wyrminaard pointed out, it isn't overpowering the season. That would've been so much worse.

Nooo! Not my crush James! *weeps* Literally anyone else on that tribe could've gone home and I'd have been happy.

On the plus side, Chris is such a fascinating character. He can't be easily characterized as a hero or a villain. "The hardest thing out here is how exhausting it is to be awesome all the time." :lmao: I can't remember exactly what he said but it was hilarious.

I also appreciate Bradley's journey into villainy. I can't wait to watch him square off against Dominick next week.

Shame to see James go, he seemed like he could be a really good player. I´m sort of surprised that Angela didn't try to switch the vote unto Michael, but I guess they knew that Michael was willing to throw James under the bus while James wasn't playing that way.

Chris is an incredibly narcissistic person, he always has to turn every conversation into being about him. Personally at this point if I was playing on this season I'd want to take Chris to the end since there is pretty much a 0% chance that Chris can form any personal bonds or sway anyone on the jury during final tribal :)

Hmm, I think that Dom and Chelsea made a bad choice in getting rid of Bradley. If they other original Nivitis want to stay together then they have handed Chris all the ammunition he needs to rally the others around him instead of Dom.

That said, Bradley was playing really poorly and did deserve to get voted out since his social game was terrible. Though again it shows poor long term planning on Dom's part that he didn't keep around an ally that would be really easy to beat in the final three.

What a pity that Chris was the one to leave, though I am glad his departure at least brought the incredibly boring and repetitive Dom/Chris feud to a close. What will the producers do for storylines now, I wonder?

And **** Wendell. He came off like a complete ass in his voting statement, especially since Chris had been so gracious in his own.

I hope Wendell wins, I thought he would get voted out when Michael played his idol. The guy is smart and could have played his idol but trusted the plan was still in place. I know I would have played it.

I do think he has to get rid of Dom before the Final TC because people will view him as the sidekick. Even if Wendell seems to have a better social relationship with people in the alliance.

I don't hold that Chris thing against him. We have no clue if others said things when they vote. The show rarely show that anymore, but TC goes on for hours so people could have said things when they voted too.

Angela is an idiot. Screwed up the vote a few weeks ago, and ran her jaw today.

Csnt wait to see her voted out

Angela's needless psyops campaign was the most interesting part of the episode. Everything else was just plain dull.

At least Michael's idol was flushed.

I forgot Michael even had one before he mentioned it before TC.
At one point
Michael, Chris, Dom, and Wendall had idols is that the most out there? Dom had 2 because the Legacy so 5 idols out.

Good episode, the editing had me really guessing all the way to the end about who was going home.

Glad to see that the Navitis were smart enough to stick together. It would have been way to early to throw in with the Malolos when there are still five of them, two or three should be the maximum.
