Anyone watch the premiere last night? I thought it was pretty weak. The stereotyping of people from each gen needs to stop immediately. David at least seems as though he'll be immensely entertaining, and the millenials were hilarious the way they quit building a shelter to go play in the water even though they knew a cyclone was coming.

Australian Survivor has also taken a turn for the worse lately. :csad: I'm glad at least they're merging.

Holy hell, the Millenial Tribe is collectively the most annoying, self-righteous group of ass hats in Survivor history. The first episode did not give me much hope for the season. But I can't complain too much. Survivor has been putting out some top tier seasons for the past five or six. We might be due for a bit of a mediocre one.

My gut feeling when I heard about the seasons theme was that it would be annoying and feel forced. Sadly it seems my gut was right :(

At least the weather in the episode was interesting, other than that there wasn't much going on and it seems like we have two tribes that aren't really good at the game. It really boggled me mind that GenX voted as they did. There clearly were weaker players that they could have targeted.

On a side note, please don't spoil anything for Survivor Australia. I´m watching the show but I´m only up to episode 11 and I´m really enjoying it so far :)

^I'm glad you said that! I almost mentioned who the last person voted out of AS was. I'm enjoying AS, too. I long for the days when Survivor didn't have a theme and just put 16-20 strangers on an island together.

And yeah, the millennials are self-centered and awful, but GenX is just so bland except for David and Rachel. I'll just root for David and the Millennial misfits, I guess.

The first one I would have voted out was David. Useless at camp, useless in the challenge and worst of all is openly and rather ineptly looking for the hidden immunity idol. I was really, really surprised that he didn't get axed after all that since in just about every other season a person who gave that performance would have been sent packing.

I´m not saying the guy is boring to watch but he is useless, and this early in the game the votes should be about keeping the tribe strong so you don't have to go to tribal. It's not even as though they needed his vote to stay in a majority.

I´m not sure who I´m rooting for this season. The model guy from GenX seemed to have his act together, as did the flamboyant guy in the Millenial tribe but neither managed to win me over.

I do however know who I´m rooting against, and that would be the guy with the "love googles" on. He was just way to annoying.

^I think Gen X decided that David was so transparently awful at the game that it made sense to keep him around as an extra number. Rachel annoyed them as well so they just went for her.

Anyway, last night's episode was vastly superior to the premiere. I love the way Ken and David have made an awkward people's alliance to stand up to Paul, Brett, and Jessica. And Michaela is the best and funniest member of the millennial tribe. It was also nice how Paul's medical crisis didn't take over the whole episode the way such events sometimes do.

Michaela sure was easy to play. A single lie and she completely abandoned her plan and went with the people she distrusted.

I don't get what the people there were thinking when they voted our Mari. There clearly was a core four person alliance in place and yet two people not in the alliance voted with them...

On the GenX side I was glad to see that the tribe can actually keep up in physical challenges (with the exception of David).

I'm not sure there's a core four person alliance on the millennial team. Jay is only tight with Taylor and Michelle seems to be on the periphery. I get the vibe she's closest to Hannah.

Other people on the Millennial team talked about the "Popular people alliance" and I think they indicated that it was four strong, so that indicates strongly that there is a core alliance. Also the other three in the alliance went into overdrive to protect Figgs and made it really clear that they were protecting their alliance and that they needed to bring in two more votes.

Thank goodness [BLACKOUT]Paul left last night. The misfit alliance of Cece, Ken, and David must make the merge![/BLACKOUT]

The millennial tribe continues to be the more entertaining of the two. Will and Adam can go at any time, though.

Some thoughts on the episode:

Paul really shot himself in the foot. Saying something like that to the girls has got to be one of the stupidest things said in recent Survivor history.

That said, I think the girls made a mistake to vote Paul out rather than voting out CC. At this stage of the game you really want to avoid going to tribal council at all cost and CC clearly is a much weaker link than Paul is. If they really were afraid of an all guy alliance (which never work out anyway) then they should have insisted on getting rid of David.

From what I've heard, the girls knew David had an idol, so they knew voting for him this round wouldn't get rid of him.

But with CC having performed so poorly at the challenge it would have been the perfect time to blindside David, or at least to do a 3-3 split vote and then if he doesn't play the idol they can vote him out, other wise its CC going home.

They even knew that the outsiders were voting Paul so they could still have sent him home on the re-vote and gotten rid of an Idol.

So all in all I think the girls didn't play that situation very well and sacrificed a solid 6 person alliance because of some future paranoia.

This season 33 is pretty boring so far but the latest #blindside was pretty funny!

What should have been a really tense and exciting episode fell flat due to the boringness that is the Gen X tribe. Thank God they'll be merging with the Millennials next week. Please don't let the Millennials picked off, though.

The American series has been on here in Perth, Australia for a couple weeks now but I have not seen an episode because it is shown so late. Last night it was scheduled for an 11 P.M. start!

Australian Survivor is in its final weeks and has held up pretty well! And it starts at 7:30 P.M.

I hear Survivor Australia is pretty good. Have not found a way to see it yet though.

As for this current season of "American" Survivor, its turning out to be pretty bad IMO.

Also why do Asian women always seem to get the boot early on. This season I can see why the Bossy older one got the boot, but the young young.. I was doing some stuff on my phone and I look up and she's been voted out.. did not see that coming (the wife said someone said they though she was too good at comps so they got rid of her.. which if true is really stupid)

Sometimes I wish the first half of Survivor, elimination were based on competitions.

This season so far isn't living up to the standards of the past 3-4 seasons, but hopefully things will improve after the shake up.

As for the millennial asian women voted out (Mari) she was just unlucky in that the other alliance needed to target somebody and her name came up first and people went with it. There really didn't seem to be any other reason, someone had to go and they decided on her.

Australian Survivor for a little while looked like it was headed for a dull finish but it's picked back up again. Now we just need [BLACKOUT]Kristie[/BLACKOUT] to win.

Thank goodness it was Cece who left and not someone entertaining. I want all of Gen X to leave except for Ken and David, who, BTW, continues to be hilariously inept at Survivor outside of finding HIIs.

Cece should have been the first one voted out at the GenX tribe, it would have made a lot more sense than voting out Rachel.

I´m not sure though that the right move there for the big guy was to vote out Cece given what we know about the millenial tribes dynamics. Getting rid of Michelle and then turning on Cece might have been the better move since if the millenials make it to the merge with a lot of players its unlikely that they will include a GenX high in an alliance.

I love the David/Ken bromance. They couldn't be more different and yet they clicked.

AUSTRALIAN SURVIVOR FINALE:

This was on last night and I am entirely satisfied with the product that was produced here in Australia! This entire amazing episode was concluded satisfactorily in about one and three-quarter hours with no need to return to Sydney (or Melbourne, or wherever it was produced).

First, the final immunity challenge was an epic six and a half-hour marathon! This is truly one of the greatest challenges ever devised for Survivor anywhere - absolutely amazing.

And it was an amazing final jury conclusion when I thought that there might have been a much closer verdict. The winner truly played the game as it was intended with no apologies. Outwit, outplay, and outlast! Great television.

Jonathan LaPaglia was an excellent host and the show is now searching for contestants for another season. Twenty four players of three teams of eight, fifty-five days instead of the thirty-nine for the American version - it was brave in departing from a tried and true format and gave us a thrilling and satisfying winner who in all ways was worthy of the title of Australian Survivor. I am not revealing the winner at this time in the off-chance that it may be shown on U.S. television.

Bravo!

The winner, IMO, [blackout]was superb.[/blackout] I loved how the jury was so aggressively opposed to [blackout]Lee[/blackout]. Nick's speech, in particular, was sublime.

I'd prefer fewer contestants and no nonelim episodes in future seasons. Yes the double tribal council was amazing this season but the twist won't be as effective a second time.

Re American Survivor: Michaela continues to cement herself as my favorite player. She's just hilarious. the editing's atrocious, however. I can't believe we're six episodes in and yet we've barely heard from Sunday, Bret, and Will. Pathetic.

ETA: Did anyone else roll their eyes at Jeff trying to convince Taylor and Figgy to get married during TC? You know he was just dying to have another "Survivor first"! And what was that crap about Millennials being more wiling to get married impulsively? I'm so sick of this theme.
