Unicorn: Warriors Eternal Trailer for New Genndy Tartakovsky Series

The creator of Primal, Samurai Jack, and more returns with this trailer for his new Adult Swim steampunk-fantasy series.

If you’re into animation at all, chances are you know Genndy Tartakovsky’s name. He created Samurai Jack, Primal, and Sym-Bionic Titan, and whenever he has a new series, it’s always worth checking out. But even for him, his new show—Unicorn: Warriors Eternal—looks special. It also looks rad as hell.
Elves, sorceresses, steampunk automatons, reincarnation—Unicorn: Warriors Eternal seemingly has it all. No notes! Here’s the official synopsis, which you can read, but I honestly suggest just watching the trailer again.

“In Unicorn: Warriors Eternal, an evil force is looming across the dark, thick-aired streets of industrial revolution London when a group of heroes dubbed Unicorn are accidentally reawakened in the bodies of teenagers instead of adult hosts they’ve embodied in the past. Melinda, a powerful sorceress, Seng, a cosmic monk, and Edred, a warrior elf. With distorted memories and their magical abilities weakened and fragmented, the trio must work together with help from their steam-powered robot, Copernicus, to unravel the mysteries of their pasts and present that will reveal their path to defeating a timeless threat.”

Getting big Osamu Tezuka vibes from the team dynamic and the art style.

Speaking of which, been meaning to catch up on Primal. Looks like now is as good an excuse as any.

Looks really cool! Can’t wait to check it out, yay for them for supporting quality animation

never really watched any of tartakovsky's other work but i know they're popular and well-loved.
mainly, because i do not have cable tv.

but this looks really great, imo.
it's looks like the type of stories i used to imagine in my head when i was younger.

and yea, definitely seeing the osamu tezuka influence in the character designs.

Gotta hurry and get to date on my Primal watch.
Yeah me too. Gonna get caught on Primal over the weekend. Excited for this new series though.

First two episodes are now up on HBO Max, as well as available in the Adult Swim app/website with ads.

It’s definitely a bit ‘out there’ - expected with Tartakovsky - with the neat visuals doing the heavy lifting over the script.

The 2nd episode completes the 2-part opening ‘Awakening’ of the characters.

I'm surprised there's so little discussion about this show.

Sure, it's no Primal, but that is an almost impossibly high bar to match.

It took me a couple of episodes to get into it, but I quite enjoy it now and I absolutely love the voice of the actress voicing Melinda.
