Soooo. I'm back from vacation. Please tell me something happened! :-)

and whiteshoulder you may think you are ready for the addiction, but, trust me, none of us were . . .
well at least I wasn't :-)

lol....still looking forward to it. I'll just have to brace myself and try not to get too cracked out.

Nah, just embrace the insanity. My Viral marketing experience has led to rather random life-skills that has actually come in handy in real life. (We had an issue with a program randomly switching to producing HEX, although explaining why I recognized the sequences as hex was a little fun)

BTW, is anyone here in SF?

Hmm....I guess the insanity is inevitable....

And I considering I don't know what SF stands for, I'm forced to assume I'm not into it.

Heh, SF= San Francisco . (I figured using the local parlance of "The City", capitalization inferred, would be a little too vague)

There's apparently an ongoing ARG here and I was wondering if any SHH'ers wanted to give it a try.

Ah, nope. I'm not in San Francisco. Too bad, I've been dying, as I'm sure everyone can tell by now, to give an ARG a spin.

LOL a Riddler fan just added a blurb about Mr. Edward Nashton to the Wiki character page.

I'm too dizzy and tired to be arsed to remove it right now. :o

I've removed it. Mind you, they'll probably have it back up before dawn, but whatever.

Dude, sweet! I'd love to see it when it's done. We need people like you or we'd be totally lost. But yeah, I'm still sketchy on several things, like the whole bowling alley thing. I keep meaning to look it up, but I get side tracked.

Actually I'm fuzzy on CFB, most of the Dent Campaign, and Operation Slipknot. I know what they are, but I'm confused on how it interweaves with Why So Serious?. It's all very complicated, which is one of the reasons I'm so transfixed by it all. :)
Late reply, but...yeah. :o

I think the campaign was named Why So Serious? because of the name of the site: Whysoserious.com was simply the main hub for the Joker games. As I interpreted it, there were actually 4 storylines going on - Joker, Dent, Batman, and GPD. So CFB was for Batman, Dent campaign was obviously for Dent, and Operation Slipknot was a mix of Dent and GPD and Joker. :funny:

Yeah, trying to organize it into separate webpages is rather confusing. :o

For a Batman 3 trailer, I've an idea, here goes anyway, although Gotham City is the setting and they probably know nothing of our music in the
Batman universe.

Batman 3 Trailer

Shown, the Bat-Signal before a beaming light and there's a gold background.

A child sings lyrics

" 'Anything you can do,
I can do better.
I can do anything
Better than you' "

[Then, possibly, " 'Hey, diddle, diddle, time for a riddle.' "]

Heard, is a laugh, much like the laugh from EvergreenAcademy's Batman 3 Teaser video on youtube. Then, a black question mark in a white background box shoots toward the viewer.

The movie reads, in gray letters:

The Dark Legend

The Dark Legend disappears off-screen and the viewer finally is left with:

Summer 2012

:awesome:

I viral marketing campaign that has fans solve riddles or puzzles to find out who has been cast in B3 would be simply GENIUS!

I don't really expect a viral campaign like we had with TDK. Maybe a small one, but there isn't as much to work with using bane and catwoman.

I think if Riddler had been announced as a villain, we would have had an epic viral campaign. I'm just not too sure how much can be done with Catwoman and Bane.

nah, I think we will have another huge viral marketing campaign. Full of Batman wanted posters, sightings of catwoman, and something with Bane ( I have no idea how Nolan is going to write him so I have no idea what to expect with it)

I could definitely see those.

I like the idea of Batman wanted posters a lot. If Catwoman ends up having her own signature calling card it would be cool to include that in the marketing, maybe paw prints, or something. If Selina Kyle is a socialite, maybe invitations to one of her grand parties (i.e. release date of the movie), I dunno.

Maybe a plot involving a group of people trying to determine Batman's identity?

Anita18 brought up a good point in another thread that the ARG really doesn't have to stem from a character from the movie, but could instead focus around a newly created character for the ARG.

I have faith that 42 entertainment will come up with an amazing ARG. What they did with The Dark Knight blew my mind. I can't wait, hopefully it will start up again really soon

Honestly, I see A LOT of potential for viral marketing with this set-up and these characters. I'd be shocked if we got anything less than we got with TDK.

I'm sure the viral marketing campaign will be awesome, but I just don't see it topping that. For over a year The Joker and Harvey Dent mania swept the nation.

Those were the days :hoboj:

I miss those days lol

I had a dream the other night about batman 3 virals. It seemed so real! I cannot wait!

The thing is that they'd basically need to come up with a prequel story for both Bane and Catwoman in order for it to work nearly as well as TDK. And that entirely depends on what the movie's storyline is going to be. TDK fell together perfectly for that to happen.

For example, if they're bringing in Bane from somewhere else in the film, then he can't be part of the ARG unless he's already got an agenda with Batman. I can see something about Catwoman if she's a Gotham native since they can introduce her.

I still stand by my belief that if they can't do an ARG well, they shouldn't do one at all. A half-assed ARG is pretty much the biggest waste of time ever. ESPECIALLY if I'm going to be the Wikigirl again devoting most my time to this. :funny: I mean, swag is cool, but the awesome storyline is what kept me coming back to TDK even years after it was over. (see my sig. :cwink: )

I agree. And btw, great work on the TDK viral. I never got to thank you because I never realized how much you actually did.

Anita was the viral campaign goddess! Amazing.

Also, I'm not sure if they would do this or not, but remember last time they kept going with the joker in the campaign although Heath died. Yes, they took a break (which they said was planned, but I think they were doing it out of respect...), but regardless they still went on with the show. Technically, they COULD bring the joker back into the campaign. Or even introduce Harley Quinn into the mix although, not addressing her as such, but perhaps having her be a follower of the Joker as carrying on his work while he is in arkham. It would tie in the last campaign with this one and perhaps lend itself more to the puzzles, etc. I'm sure they could think of something for Catwoman or Bane, but they NEED ringleader. They could make up a character to be that ring leader, but I think they need an established character to "lead" us.

Here's what we need to remember too...the entire viral campaign has the Joker as the ringleader...but it only worked because Nolan decided not to tell us how the joker came to be...he just "was." No backstory. No "rise of the joker." The joker was the joker, technically, already by the end of Batman Begins. That fed into the mystery of him. So, the campaign lead nicely, and perfectly, into the timing of the events of the movie. If you're looking at a timeline, everything in the campaign happened BEFORE the events in the movie. The movie was the big 2+ hour conclusion of our 1+ year viral campaign.

Once can assume that Nolan will show us how Catwoman and Bane came to be (unlike the Joker). So, going off of that, if they structure the campaign the same way as it being almost a prequel to the movie, referencing catwoman or bane wouldn't work because they aren't catwoman or bane yet. So, again, we need a ringleader.

I know it would be weird, but The Joker is bigger than Heath. Heath knew this. Nolan's said this. I would be surprised if the joker wasn't at least mentioned in TDKR at some point. So, with permission of WB and Nolan, I am sure they could develop a viral with either the joker as the ringleader again or use Harley, even though Nolan seems to have no interest in using her. Again, they can use her as a follower of him and trying to carry on his work as he is locked up...maybe she is his nurse and she is taking direction from him from the inside on what "we should be doing" on the outside.

No doubt, they need to tie this campaign into the movie with bane and catwoman. They did it with Dent. So it will be interesting to see who they use as our "leader"...maybe it's as simple as they use Batman as our leader...
