I agree. And btw, great work on the TDK viral. I never got to thank you because I never realized how much you actually did.
Anita was the viral campaign goddess! Amazing.
Also, I'm not sure if they would do this or not, but remember last time they kept going with the joker in the campaign although Heath died. Yes, they took a break (which they said was planned, but I think they were doing it out of respect...), but regardless they still went on with the show. Technically, they COULD bring the joker back into the campaign. Or even introduce Harley Quinn into the mix although, not addressing her as such, but perhaps having her be a follower of the Joker as carrying on his work while he is in arkham. It would tie in the last campaign with this one and perhaps lend itself more to the puzzles, etc. I'm sure they could think of something for Catwoman or Bane, but they NEED ringleader. They could make up a character to be that ring leader, but I think they need an established character to "lead" us.
Here's what we need to remember too...the entire viral campaign has the Joker as the ringleader...but it only worked because Nolan decided not to tell us how the joker came to be...he just "was." No backstory. No "rise of the joker." The joker was the joker, technically, already by the end of Batman Begins. That fed into the mystery of him. So, the campaign lead nicely, and perfectly, into the timing of the events of the movie. If you're looking at a timeline, everything in the campaign happened BEFORE the events in the movie. The movie was the big 2+ hour conclusion of our 1+ year viral campaign.
Once can assume that Nolan will show us how Catwoman and Bane came to be (unlike the Joker). So, going off of that, if they structure the campaign the same way as it being almost a prequel to the movie, referencing catwoman or bane wouldn't work because they aren't catwoman or bane yet. So, again, we need a ringleader.
I know it would be weird, but The Joker is bigger than Heath. Heath knew this. Nolan's said this. I would be surprised if the joker wasn't at least mentioned in TDKR at some point. So, with permission of WB and Nolan, I am sure they could develop a viral with either the joker as the ringleader again or use Harley, even though Nolan seems to have no interest in using her. Again, they can use her as a follower of him and trying to carry on his work as he is locked up...maybe she is his nurse and she is taking direction from him from the inside on what "we should be doing" on the outside.
No doubt, they need to tie this campaign into the movie with bane and catwoman. They did it with Dent. So it will be interesting to see who they use as our "leader"...maybe it's as simple as they use Batman as our leader...
