Asides from the really disappointing roster, the writing and art is awesome.

Replace not having a Flash yet with Flash. Any of them. I think Bart could be fine, with Meltzer writing him.
Replace Cyborg with putting Cyborg back the **** in the Teen Titans where he Goddamn belongs. It's not a farm team, OK? It's a team in its own right.
Don't even think about putting Captain Marvel in. I don't know if that's been decided or not, but they were discussing it in that first issue.
Replace not having anybody relaxed on the team (now that Arsenal's been replaced, see) with having Plastic Man. I gotta tell ya, I love Plastic Man. In the League or on his own, I love Plastic Man. And I love Jack Cole, and its a deserving tribute to the guy to put Plastic Man in the League forever. Or until he dies.

That's true. Also, Arsenal needs to be replaced by Connor Hawke, Red Tornado needs to be shot and then replaced by a non-emo, pre-Leiberman Martian Manhunter, Hal needs to die a horrible death and be replaced by Orin, and Black Lightning needs to be replaced by Steel. The rest can stay. Yeah, it's a JLA sans GL, but Hal and John suck, Guy's busy in the far superior GLC, and Kyle's still figuring out his own powers as Ion. Oh, and Ion needs to be made into an ongoing.

Meh. Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman actually feel like the most useless members of the team. They're sitting there looking at photo albums while the second stringers are doing the real work.

I simply can't see anything that Black Canary brings to the table that isn't brought more often and better by Batman, Arsenal or Hal Jordan. Hawkgirl seems equally ubiquitous.

Black Lightning has been in the game too long to go down so easy. I'm embarassed to be a fan. I don't actually care about Red Tornado's family... good try, though. Traya should be a tad older... and darker haired based on the last time I saw her... I didn't think she could get younger.

Also, I think a boxed set of those mugshots that they had would actually get bought... at least by me. Heh. I want to sit around a table with my friends and go... "What about Ollie?"

Dinah's detective background are so often forgotten and she's so often pushed to the side as Ollie's old ex that no one remembers that she's useful in so many different roles. Her martial arts skills should be *by now* up on par or even past Batman, especially after the little boost of training with Shiva's teacher. Also her powers are enough to shatter a mountain.

And besides not everything is about power in the JLA. She's got more heart and knows her way around the Hero circle better than almost anyone. And while Bats, Roy and Hal might out-power her she's got way more of a connection to humanity than many of them.
