The 2012 ABC/Des Moines Register Republican Presidential Debate

That doesn't matter in the eyes of many conservatives. This is a very problematic issue for Romney and should be easy pickings for candidates like Perry and Bachmann. And yet, they still manage to look like complete clowns while Romney is able to manage to defend himself very competently.

It is but independents will completely get it. That is what he has to hope for.

Newt is being very underwhelming.

Is it just me, or does Mitt Romney look like an Oompa Loompa?

This is what I figured it'd be, all Romney and Gingrich. Ron Paul needs top speak up and get in there.

as much as i like Ron Paul he really doesn't seem to be as impressive speaker as romney or gingrich. romney definitely seems to be the strongest public speaker.

gingrichs reagan comparison made no sense and was completely irrelevant.

I'm impressed by what Paul says, not how he says it. Like how Paul says we need to say out of the Israeli/Palestine situation, yet Gingrich gets applause by sticking to his "Palestinians are an invented people" remarke.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for Paul, either him or mit romney. I can't stand gingrich. I'm just saying he doesn't seem to capture the audience as well as them.

Damn you to hell Michelle Bachmann. I wanted to go through one debate without hearing about 9-9-9!

Gary gets snubbed because he doesn't even meet the polling requirements for attention.

His polling numbers are roughly the same as Huntsman(who for whatever reason wasn't at this debate) though. It's sort of a self fulfilling prophecy saying he doesn't get enough attention, when you don't give him a chance.

Huntsman gets around 2 - 3% nationally and in New Hampshire gets close to 10%. Johnson does far less than that.

Ron Paul's presence in the race destroyed Johnson's chances of getting any attention. And the libertarian vote is going to go to Paul.

I can't stand gingrich.

I agree. Hell, I'm almost ready to vote for Ron Paul at this point since Romney's is starting to buckle in the poll numbers.

I saw most of this, but like usual was zoning out and only paying attention to Paul and somewhat Romney. Few early laughs in debate...was shocked Michele is 55...woman takes care of herself...mmm...yea, I said MMM..but Time Warner DVR had a boo boo cause it is lame...I'll youtube the full Paul high lights as usual. I've made up my mind that Paul is the best hope, but Romney, while I don't think he's honest, will probably be a bit better than Obama.

Or how the Palestinians are an invented people. Or how he helped end the Cold War. Or how he will be the nominee. Or how we're on track of being a secular atheist society dominated by Islamic radicals.

That one is my favorite.

I've never heard Newt's statement about the Palestinians being an invented people. I wonder how he means it. Is it because there is no country called Palestine so Palestinians is a misnomer? But that logic doesn't hold up because the region was called Palestine so it seems reasonable to call the people from there Palestinians.

I love how these politicians can get away with saying contradictory things but it's even more amusing when they do it in the same sentence. How can a society be secular atheistic and still be dominated by religious (in this case Islamic) radicals. lol

While I cannot stand Newt, I did enjoy his "you would've been a career politician had you not lost to Teddy Kennedy" response to Romney.

Romney has been so carefully scripted and concealed throughout this campaign. The bet however was a great, off-script moment as it shows the smugness of him perfectly. :funny:

what does gingirch exactly plan to do about that anyway? lol. make everybody go to church or something?

Gingrich and Santorum believe that the occupied Palestinian Territories is Israeli territory.

Funny, I would think a society dominated by Islamic radicals would be a theocracy, which is kind of the opposite of atheist.

Thanks for the link Marvolo and the explanations.

I think these guys understand how our government system works by all the proclamations they make. Based on their statements it would seem like the President is like an all powerful monarch.
