The Ads Here Are Ridiculous!

I'm viewing this site almost exclusively on mobile and the ads are really ruining it! From the ones that make the whole page jump down just as I click the thread I'm looking for, to the pop-ups that cover the text window when I'm trying to post. I'd block them if I could and I'm not getting another browser! Is anyone else getting really annoyed with these?

I browse quite a lot from my phone & I don't see very many ads, none of them that make the page move or jump. Usually 1 near the top of the page & that's it.

It could be your phone, what are you using? I browse through Chrome for Android & there's a desktop view which looks like it does normally through PC, but there's an additional button above the 'new posts' search that allows me to swap to mobile view. In that I get no ads & everything is more phone friendly.

For me it comes and goes in waves. I get a bunch, then none for a while.

Yeah, I mainly use my phone while on this site, and the ads are ridiculous. I even have 3 different adblockers on, and they still pop up. They're huge too. It takes up almost half the screen.

I have problems with ads on this site from my phone too which is why I rarely visit it from a phone. So far I don't think I have had a hijacker from this particular site but some other moderately sized sites I do get them. Though the advertisements here are worse because of the nature of a message board as opposed to say a news or information site.

I use chrome on my laptop (Win 10) and phone (Android).

Not many ads on either.

I know right? I'm on mobile and never notice any ads except for the occasional one at the top of the page that almost feels invisible unless you are looking for it.

There used to be massive page spanning ones that tended to hide the close button.

They vary, too. Some days it's a pop-up at the bottom. Sometimes it's a banner that makes the page jump down, usually just as I click and makes me hit the wrong link.

I've never accessed the Hype through a phone....so never had this problem.

That's the same sort of screen I get in the mobile view with exactly the same ad placement, but it's never anything more than that 1. No pops ups or nothing that moves the screen though in this view or the desktop one.

Open up Chrome > Hit '3 dots button' in top right > Settings > Site Settings

Scroll down to Pop-ups & Ads, mine says Pop-ups - Blocked, Ads - Blocked from some sites.

I have those exact same settings and this is what my screen looked like as I pulled up this thread just now.



And the banner at the top takes a few seconds to load so, when it does, my screen jumps down to make room for it. Thus, moving all my damn links.
