I really don't like the front page of SHH now.

The split between "News" and "Features" on the front page of SHH is more a breakdown (the act of disrupting an established order so it fails to continue; a cessation of normal operation) than an innovation.

I didn't just notice, but when I did I sent heartfelt comments through the contact web form (and did not receive a reply).

As I write this, there are "Features" on the front page of SHH dating back 2 months. That's not exciting or informative, it's just old news. I was once able to hit the front page, see the rolling photo "Features" at the top of the page, and then see the "News" below. I could make sure I hadn't missed any articles because I could see where yesterday's "News" stopped and today's began.

I'm one of a group of loyal followers of the site. I check it several times a day, and there's no substitute- I've looked. Unfortunately, I have chosen to bypass the front page altogether by setting the link for "More News" as my Firefox button to get what I want from the site- which used to be the front page.

I'm willing to deal with the ads and the 21st century version of pop-ups on the front page, but I am going to have to skip the 2 month old "Features" until SHH realizes they're better than this and return to their previous excellence. I hope others agree and encourage them to do the same.

Um...i'm slightly confused as to what the issue here is...

You say you check the site several times a day, so there really isn't a way you can "miss" any news, since there are never less than 10 articles on the front page every day and there are never THAT many new additions in one swoop for you to miss anything in the few hours between your viewing. And you can easily tell when "yesterdays news" and "todays news" are divided by simply looking at the date of each article below their description.

As for the Features issue, i'd rather there be a list of links that I can immediately see than a slide show I have to sit and wait for. The only way for them to get rid of the "2 month old news" is to have a higher occurrence of features, which i don't think anyone would be opposed to.

Personally, I find SHH's front page to be very simple and user friendly - it just takes a few seconds to gloss over whats new and what isn't. I also like how you can see the updates for their sister sites as well.

I hate to tell you, but it takes A LOT of money to create and implement web designs, and they are probably laughing at you for thinking that a "newb" whose only just become a member could cause a company to spend 6 figures to change their layout.
