Seeing how the official announcement of who's playing Alfred could come any day now I decided to make the poll to see who's the favorite.

Honestly, I don't have a clear favorite. This is one of those roles where any number of actors could fit it like a glove.

If I had to pick one, gun to my head, Hugh Laurie.

I'd quite like a Hugh Grant Alfred, very nervous and twitchy, knocking over trays and apologising profusely.

On the other hand a Richard E. Grant Alfred would be good if he played it like Withnail, very morose and depressed, very philosophical about all the crime in Gotham and the pointlessness of it all.

Pierce Brosnan can push Robert out of the way and go into Bond mode and do it all himself.

Ralph Fiennes would be good if it turns out Alfred is secretly working for the other side, a member of the Illuminati/Court of Owls.

You sure have a lot of faith in their range as actors.

If Hugh Grant sits very still then that will show his range.

My personal pick is actually Timothy Dalton, but from these pics, I gotta go with either Jared Harris or Richard E.

James Bond should play Alfred imo. The only one who could have raised the Batman tbh.

Daniel Craig would be the worst possible choice, in that he'd end up looking way more badass and masculine than Bruce Wayne himself. He'd show Pattinson up in his own movie. No, no, no.

My choice would (and has been, for some years now) be Charles Dance. The man oozes class, sophistication and gentlemanly poise.

Not if you don't try to hide how old Daniel Craig actually looks.

Looking old invalidates masculinity and general all round badassery? No matter how old and wrinkled Daniel Craig might looks nowadays, I'd still never believe that Pattinson could best him in a fight. You'd have audiences looking at Alfred and thinking, 'Well now why isn't he Batman?!'

As Pattinson looks right now, no. But he'll physically transform for the role. If he ends up looking like Bale in Begins or Jake on Southpaw you'll have no doubt in your mind he could take on both Pierce Brosnan and Craig.

Right now Pattinson looks like even Wright and Hill could beat him in a fight but he'll work out.

Daniel Craig is still too young fit and handsome to be Alfred though

I agree. And regardless of the difference in musculature between the two, I just don't think Pattinson exhibits as much of a macho demeanour as Craig does. It'd be like comparing a young Steve McQueen or Clint Eastwood to Henry Cavill or Ben Affleck. Yes, the latter two are both clearly more muscular, but McQueen and Eastwood (I'm talking their screen personas, obviously) still have a far more macho disposition that would make most people wearier of messing around with them. I just don't think it'd be a good look for our Batman if even his Alfred was more intimidating.

I honestly think the other Bond, Brosnan, looks more physically imposing and handsome.

I highly doubt Craig would want to play Batman’s Butler after getting a huge paycheck for his last Bond.

Pierce Brosnan as Alfred is a good choice because he could be badass and be believable as that kind of Alfred but he can also be the classy dry humored and sophisticated Alfred who is content to just be the butler and give Bruce support.

Funny how most of the fan cast for Alfred has veered heavily into masculine territory and farther from Gough and Caine types. Craig as Alfred would be fire though and would even be more intimidating than Pattinson as Batman. Lol. Someone like Sean Pertwee would be ideal. Brosnan could be that if he decides to portray Alfred as such.
