The Amazing Spider-Man The Amazing Nitpick Thread

The trailer does leave that impression that Peter becomes Spider-Man due to wanting to find out about his parents. But I think it might be both: the quest to find about his parents, leading him to Oscorp, Connors, and the spider (radioactive, genetically altered, or whatever); and of course the guilt of Uncle Ben's death.

He dies. We saw his death in set videos. The end.

As long as we don't get big groups of people seeing his face, or standing up to the super villain, it'll be fine. That was always cheesy in the Raimi Movies. "You mess with one of us, you mess with all of us!" Really? Goblin should just have Pumpkin Bombed his ass. And then in part 3, Spidey Parade...

Hahahahahaha very true, I always wondered why Green Goblin didn't kill that guy.

The Spidey parade I didn't like, but the train scene in Spidey 2 was ****ing fantastic.
Idk about you, but if somebody just risked their life to save me, I'd be reacting that way too.

East coast city people ftw :woot:

I retract my statement because I thought you were referring to the train scene for a second.

Yeah the guy throwing things at Gobby was pretty silly.

I have one MAJOR nitpick. How does he keep all that hair underneath that mask?

A few years ago, I used to wear a beanie over a bunch of hair. A lot easier than you might think. :woot:

I'm so jealous. My girl hair doesn't like to be bunched up for too long. It always finds a way to get free. :(

Only nitpick I may have is Gwen immediately knowing Peter is Spidey. It doesn't really bothers me much though.
The lizard, webshooters definitely and the swinging scenes are FTMFW!!!

I was actually hoping he'd just open up on the whole crowd with the machine guns under his glider after that scene. That's what GG from the comics would have done.

The Amazing Spider-man trailer 2 is now available for download via apple trailers!

That would've been awesome and very true to character.

It wouldn't take much to make it look like the classic suit though. Get rid of the lines on the legs and put them around his waist. Make the gloves completely red and add some shoe soles that don't look like sneakers. Done. The material and textures I'm absolutely happy with, keep those.

Even if they change the suit in the few minor ways to make it look exactly like the comic suit, I hope they keep the gloves the way they are. I love them. I also hope they don't mess with the web pattern, it looks way better than any previous version.

Also in regards to the suit, even though it doesn't look like the classic design, there's something about the texture, the design, the way it shimmers in the night that I really like. Something about it intrigues me. It looks a bit off, but I like that and it's a little creepy yet so spider-like and definitely works much better on film and in tone than I think the original design would have IMO.

The one thing that really seemed jarring to me was Dennis Leary as Captain Stacy. I mean, he just seemed way too angry and gun-ho compared to the Captain Stacy I know from the comics. I'm perfectly fine with changing characters from their original versions so long as it benefits the story, but this was just a bit unexpected. Anyone else have a similar reaction?

I agree completely! It's such a bizarre casting choice. I like Dennis Leary, but I just don't see him as Captain Stacy. He looks like he belongs in one of those heist movies. The fact that he also looks nothing like Stacy annoys me.

I just did not like Garfield's voice, and his overall mannerism in the car when he attempted to be funny. The quipping has to be , ala previous incarnations... natural, and said with a level of enthusiasm and energy. Garfield's delivery was suspect. Even though Maguire did not have much to say in the previous series, when he did say something, it came off right. Garfield's wisecracking sounds like a bad actor auditioning for Broadway. Either way, there goes the dream for a fun Spidey.

I was going to bring this up, but you're absolutely right. I already miss Tobey Maguire. The prime example of the energy and the enthusiasm you're talking about is when Spider-Man meets Sandman in Spider-Man 3. The way Maguire delivered his lines in that scene was perfect. I like Andrew Garfield, but his delivery was way off. He sounds like he's bored out of his mind.

I like stacy's attitude towards spidey because you know it will talk something monumental to change that attitude and that is a good and dramatic character arc.

the design never bothered me, and doesn't bother now but this one part of the trailer really annoys me for some reason:

here the side stripe looks kinda akward, even though I think it looked cool before and everywhere else in the trailer it's cool. weird...

Here's another nitpick to throw onto the pile:

Sony Pictures Imageworks.

:csad: Yeah...

Although, to be honest, the effects for thw swinging were excellent and the Lizard had some really good looking moments.

Haha, YES. I agree. I loved that scene.

Peter getting unmasked by cops on the street

Like the train scene from SM2

That scene wasn't cheesy imo, at least not in how people act towards Green Goblin aiding Spider-Man protecting the young ones and MJ
I agree on the pumpkin bomb in a way

Well, Peter escapes before anybody can see his face.

From the trailer, his costume during the police unmasking scene and swinging to Oscorp tower/Oscorp tower scenes looks consistent.

So, I'm guessing the police are out looking for Spidey. Spidey's found out what the Lizard's going to do (turn NY into reptiles) and decides to stop him, on his way there, he gets shot down by the police. He manages to escape and gets to Oscorp tower. The police follow and may get caught in something that the Lizard has set up (possibly from the green thing in the tower) which turns them into SWAT lizards.
