The Amazing Spider-Man The Amazing Nitpick Thread

Your attitude towards most of the things in this movie is awful. :csad:

Yeah well I was against Lizard turning people into Lizards before they started filming. This feels like SM3 to me...a lot of dumb decisions. We'll see if it turns out the same.

I wasn't too happy with the SWAT lizards/evil plan thing either, but like I said, it's something that'll either work... or won't and be completely horrible.

But I have faith in Marc.

It won't be that bad.

I have some faith in the idea of Lizard turning the people into lizards because with Dr. Connors taking the serum, it might make him think it'll be for the best for everybody to have that kind of power within them.

The ONLY thing I am wondering about is, if Connors has to inject that into his arm, how will he be able to turn people into lizards as well.

That sounds awful :(

Then don't see it.

I'm serious.

I will always Spider-Man a shot...doesn't mean something in it can't be a dumb decision by the film makers. Sandman killing Uncle Ben sounded awful and it was...but we all saw it.

I will admit that I don't like the Lizard turning others into lizards, but it's NO WHERE near the Uncle Ben being killed by Sandman thing.

the whole lizard swat team idea reminds me abit of an episode of the 90s tv series

summary below

Peter proposes and Mary Jane accepts, much to Anna Watson's discomfort. Peter and Mary Jane ask Curt Connors to give Mary Jane away at the wedding, when they are interrupted by three giant lizards who claim the Doc is their father and kidnap him and Mary Jane. They're taken down to sewer, with Spider-Man in pursuit, and Doc becomes the Lizard again. Connors had dumped all of his chemicals that turned him into the Lizard, down the drain, the creatures in the sewers had consumed the chemicals, and had mutated. Spidey buys Mary Jane time so she can escape and find Margaret Connors, who has a device that can kill the Lizard and all neogenically engineered creatures, made by Connors. Spider-Man has to fight the battle of his life against the Lizard King and his minions, with Mary Jane, Debra Whitman, and Margaret Connors trying to cure Curt for good.

I remember that!

It's still stupid as balls.

Yah. One may be a bad idea and one was a bad idea and also a retcon. Big difference.

You are right. Peter's parent's having worked with a man who becomes the main villain of the movie who also works at the company that had a part in Peter's parents deaths where also Peter gets his powers and by chance where also Peter's girlfriend works whose dad is also the Police Chief that doesn't like Peter's alter ego..takes the cake for most contrived character connections ever.

Although I despised it...it technically was not a retcon. It was an unnecessary edition to make two characters connected that was contrived and pointless. Peter still could have stopped the robber and Ben would have lived.

It was a retcon when Flint Marko and the idea of him was simply out of the picture in the first film and wasn't even an idea of the car thief having some sort of partner.

That's not a retcon and that happens in serial tv shows all the time. If the robber had not been there and instead it was Flint that did everything then that is a retcon. Adding something in that was not even seen in the first movie that has no affect on the story of the first movie is not a retcon.

Lol it was definitely a retcon. I don't think Sam Raimi thought "Hehe, I know! I won't shoot a scene of Ben being killed by Dennis Carrdine because his death is really at the hands of Sandman! Hah! They'll never know what hit them." during the making of Spider-Man 1.

It was a terrible retcon to link Sandman to Peter.

It's contrived, sure, but does that make it bad? It's not unnecessarily contrived, it seems to be working. I mean, Connors was always a scientist, Peter's parents were always (thought) to be scientists, Oscorp always held scientists, and Captain Stacy was always Gwen's father. The only things the movie added is that they all work for Oscorp and Stacy doesn't like Spidey. Other than that, it's basically just putting multiple comics stories together. And besides, it also sets up Oscorp as a major player in the movie's universe which will make Goblin's appearance (which better freaking happen) all the more amazing, because it was hinted since the beginning.

And we don't know if Oscorp will be part of the death of Peter's parents, that's just an assumption at this point.

The Lizard turning people into Lizards would be cool if the Lizard didn't look like a bad sci-fi creature from a B movie...

Is it the face that keeps getting everyone? The body looks pretty awesome, I think. The face...not so much.

I like the whole idea of Lizard turning those SWAT team members into lizards, but I don't get why he would want to change the whole city. What is the whole point of that?

Turning into something else may mess with his head thinking regular ol' humans are inferior now.

Maybe he just really hates turning into the lizard and being a freak, so he wants everyone to be a freak like him. Yeah I'm not too good at coming up with ideas.
