The Arrow's Tip: Official Thread

the current issue of TV guide (Fall Preview) shows the ENTIRE costume, pants, boots and all. it looks really good. best thing about it, its not a muscle suit *cough*
I saw that too. After seeing the full body shot (with the 'G' on his belt, no less!), I'm much more sold on his look. Not that I wasn't in the first place.

And I have a feeling this is his actual "crime-fighting" outfit anf not the costume party one (where he's supposed to be dressed like Robin Hood, to appease classic GA costume fans I bet).

Can't wait for the 28th!

The Costume aint what people gotta worry about....
What do you mean, Luda? Is there something specific that you are concerned with?

Honestly, I don't know jacksquat about GA.. so they can do just about anything to the character and I'd buy it.

Wasnt there a GA fan film around here a couple of months ago? I seem to remember the costume for it was pretty good, outside of the fact that he had Sai's or whatever they're called.

Acting
Placement in parallel to others story

We have seen nothing yet. Acting, he did great in the Aquaman pilot.

So.. the usual then?
I'm not really worried about it. I'm anxious to see what they do with the character, but already I like what I'm hearing in the spoilers concerning Ollie being an old prep-school crony of Lex's.

I've always figured that Lex also knew a kid named Bruce at prep school.

Say! You think he'll ever be on the show? :hyper:

There isn't any daylight scene in that fanfilm of GA, they're obviously trying to hide that horrible costume lol, and he has a sword.

Maybe on that Metropolis show, Wednesdays on Phantom Zone TV....

The thing that sometimes bothers me is that although I guess it's ok to see Green Arrow on the show cause I said for a couple of years now he should have a guest spot, I worry that putting a lot of DC characters as regulars there using it as an excuse for there confused writing and think they can pander the fanboys and phase out the regulars who still need to have there story properly done. That's why despite the lineup for Season 6, I'm not too motivated for it.

What a great idea. You should create a new thread for that. :cwink:

I dont know why hardcore comic book fanboys pick on smallville's plot holes/continuity/scripting for. Its not like the comics have never brought people back to life numorous times (not to mention the lead character himself dying then coming back also), numorous alien attacks and time jumps/warps, constant costume changes, numorous elseworld visions, and the list can go on and on.

It's because fanboys have tunnel vision. :whatever:

Who cares what comic people are expecting? Continue reading your comics.

The creators should, at least to an extent.

"Comic people" are the reason that Superman is as popular as he is and are responsible for his original success as a character. Because of the continued success of the character thanks to those "comic people," somebody decided to make a movie starring Christopher Reeve, which naturally became huge.

This is partially where Gough and Millar got the inspiration for Smallville, as well as obviously being fans of the comics themselves.

Not to mention that one of the reasons the show is so popular is thanks to all of those "comic people" that showed up at the start to give it a shot. :o

So...yeah...

But when Smallville doesn't follow history to a T, "Comic people" get annoying and can't seem to comprehend that the comics have changed things too.

Well, personally, I pick on Smallville's plot holes because a well-crafted television show should have as few plot holes as possible, and when there is very obviously a plot hole in a story and you notice it, it takes you right out.

I could care less about the original continuity of the mythos. I like them to stick to it as best they can, but to be honest, there are going to be some deviations. Some deviations bother me more than others, but for the most part I don't fault the show for trying to stay original.

As far as scripting goes...a television show should have good writing, and let's face it - sometimes Smallville doesn't. When it gets it right it's pretty good, but when it doesn't it's just terrible.

It's not about how it relates to the mythos or how close it is - at least it shouldn't be. It should be about how well the show is as a television program...and let's face it, Smallville can be pretty lame sometimes, simple as that.

You're not wrong.

Sometimes the deviations are absurd, but I can look past that for the most part.

After just watching some of the Season 5 DVD special features, you would be surprised at how many people actually look over one script and how many times a script is re-drafted. There is a writer's assistant who sits and looks at every word and makes sure that it matches up with previous episodes.

So I would say, that those "Plot Holes" are a choice, for whatever reason, rather than an oversight, as some people believe.
