Thanks, glad you guys like the updates. Wait until you see what I'm working on now, think of a combination of Justice League and "Drawn Together" with some pretty "unusual" characters.

I can't wait.

I'm gonna jump in here with my Newb comments, because...well, I am in fact a Newb. Keep in mind that all my comments and criticism do in fact stem from the fact that I have almost no artistic talent, and thus, can be taken as the artist sees fit.

My comment: Oooooooh! Pretty....*drools*

I love yer art, and yer style. Keep up the great work.

Good stuff, I'm working on designs for a new web comic i'm gonna get up and running.

Thought I'd give you guys an update. Now this hasn't been added to my site yet which is why the picture is embedded in my post rather than linking it (those of you who hate my linking don't get too comfortable because this is NOT going to be a regular occurance). I literally just finished this picture about 5min ago, and I was pleased with the end result because I managed to get it completely done in under an hour.

Anyway I hope you guys like it....

I like it SOB. How do you do your Line Art? What program do you use?

I'm just curious, what makes you decide to vectorize something like this? I'm not trying to bash on you or anything, but I'm curious as to what goal you had in mind.

Many different reasons go into doing this. This particular piece was actually commissioned by someone who liked the previous ones I had done. The final piece will actually have more of a watercolor look to it, and have a nice background. I'm also mounting it for framing for them.

However some of the other reasons are...

1) Bored.

2) Want to see if I can create something in a less "cartoony" style and still make it look good.

3) Getting paid a good amount of money for less than an hour of work.

4) Sometimes I just feel like it.

5) It's Superman.

And to answer your question blksuperman I did this all in Adobe Illustrator CS2.

Someone paid you to do this?

Sure did. Like I said, this is not the finished piece, but this was commissioned by someone.

I detect hostility, care to share your thoughts?

I like your skin tones, but they look way too pale against the white backgrounds. I think it would look a lot better if you put something in for a background (even if it's just gray or a color or some kind of gradient).

You sounded very happy with yourself because you FINISHED this piece in your first post and now you claim that it's a WIP for a commission. I really just don't believe you.

Perhaps you're looking a little too far into things....it's like you're looking for a hidden meaning. When I say FINISHED what I really meant was I have completed the vector drawing of it (the hardest part). The next is adding the right filter in Photoshop and printing it out on the right type of media and mounting it.

What exactly don't you believe, the fact that I did this, or that I need to add the filters to it?

DOOMMACHINE I think you're right, maybe I'll slap a background behind it like I did with this one. What do you think?

Very nice. I also think your faces could use some more contrast/more shadows. It can sometimes be hard to distinguish the features. Cool stuff.

I don't believe that someone would pay you to vectorize a lame picture and add photoshop filters to it.

Haha ok, you obviously don't do commission work because you'd be surprised at the things people will pay to do. If someone that has absolutely NO artistic ability and they come to you, they'll pay you to do just about anything because they can't.

When you start doing commissioned pieces you'll understand....people bid on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on ebay, you really think THIS is that far fetched?

BTW, they're also paying for the hi-quality print, media and mounting....that does cost money.

PS: Why is the picture lame?

I agree, which is why I'm going to continue to do things like this....it helps me practice and learn what I should/shouldn't do with this type of artwork.

This is different than people buying stupid **** on ebay. I will not believe that someone actually came to you asking for a commission like this. You didn't draw the picture, you just did a shoddy tracing job in illustrator. It isn't even quality vectoring.

And it's a lame picture because it's just Routh staring at the viewer like a crazy person. It isn't even an artistic photo.

OUCH. Wow so I was unaware that the point of my thread was to impress YOU. To be quite honest with you, I really couldn't care less what you think of my work. I thought you'd be able to contribute something a little better than "I don't believe you" but apparently I overestimated you.

In reality it really doesn't matter what you choose to believe because while you're sitting here bashing me, you're busy ripping off Hellboy and turning him into "Lobsterboy"...I mean if you're going to talk originality, at least make him look different for crying out loud!

Whatever man, it's blatantly obvious no one is commissioning you for anything which is why you're so pissed off. I'd LOVE to see some of your "quality" vector art....willing to share with us?

BTW, I'll be sure to phone WB and inform them that you disapprove of those pictures of Routh, I'm sure they'll rush to change it.

gimme a break....

Dude, chill the hell out will you? You don't like his work..? Great!
Now move on.

Keep at it SOB.
