I always hated GI Joe....just thought it was lame.

Thundercats was awesome, Silverhawks was cool, Gargoyles was amazing, but He-Man was THE S**T.

**Walks over and puts in He-Man DVD's**
must be a nostalgia thing because always thought he-man was lame especially orko, Voltron and g force ( battle of the planets) were the shizbot for me. He-man if you don't take it seriosly was funny understand the whole cheese and nastolgia thing thats way i still like Underdog ( thanks disney for taking it and probablydestroying the character) and godzilla ( thanks sony for nearly destroying that character too).

wow its crazy, i was just wondering what happened to SOB yesterday, and then his thread is updated

i was hoping to see something new from him :(

i wanna see how that superman table turned out

So nice to feel wanted.

The Superman table never came to fruition for a number of reasons. I still have the design and I'd love to do it one day, but for now it'll remain as an idea....a really, cool idea, but an idea nonetheless.

As far as updates go. Ask and ye shall receive:

Here a some quickies from my sketchbook that I threw some quick colors on in Photoshop. I have to use a mouse for now because my wacom tablet was stolen and I haven't had time to get another one.

Anyway, here you go:

"Lunar Eclipse"
Lunar-Eclipse.jpg

This is a drawing I did based on a dream I had following the lunar eclipse last month. I actually like the way it turned out, even with the sketchy lines, etc. Kind of adds to the "dream vibe" I wanted to go with.

"Me as a Simpson"
Average-Joe-SIMPSONS.jpg

Self explanatory.

"My new duds"
2007-Average-Joe-logo.jpg

An updated version of my "averagejoeart" logo that I use. I ditched the thick black outline, updated my clothes, added a new background and softened the colors to make it look a bit more "natural."

"Frank Shamrock"
Frank-Shamrock.jpg

Caricature I did of MMA fighter Frank Shamrock. Frank's PR rep contacted me and said he'd like to personally request that I do one for him to use in interviews, etc. He's got it up on his website, and also on his myspace page. He sent me a note thanking me. Apparently he was pretty stoked about it.

That's all for now. Lot's more to come.

Yeah no kidding. When I signed in it said the last time I was on was over a year ago so I think enough time has passed don't you?

I also wanted to point everyone over to the Myspace page I started for my Averagejoeart.com site. If anyone has Myspace (which is like 99% of people) then feel free to look me up and add me as a friend. I give constant updates on what's going on, new projects, etc so if you're an art nerd, or even just looking to add one more person to the 4,694 friends you already have....send me a line.

Thanks. Here's some more stuff....

"Sea Breeze"
seabreeze.jpg

I heard a song on the radio, and this is the image I got in my head after listening to it. I sketched it out on a shred of paper with a mechanical pencil which was a pain because the lead sucked, and the eraser was even worse. Overall I like the way it came out, I might try to re-draw it a little better later on.

Here's the colors. I literally just finished this. The moon is f'ed up because I added it in too late and hate to draw it by hand (with a mouse), and the ocean is at an angle but I really like the colors and the overall mood.

Here are some sketches I did of my friend Diana:
Diana1.jpg

Diana2.jpg

The first one came out a bit flat because the hair is straight black (and choppy) but I do like her face. The second one is my fav because of the look on her face and the "sketchy" look.

I really like your artistic style of drawing and coloring shades. You truly are talented. Great job, i love the batman and sups on the first page.

Ha! That actually made me laugh out loud. I've heard "good" or "talented" but never "godly" that's a new one for me. Here's some more stuff....

"Cool":
Cool.jpg

I did this after a car ride with my friend. She was listening to the Gwen Stefani song "Cool" and this is what I pictured in my head while listening to the song. I know the song is about two people being "cool" with each other even though their relationship didn't work out and they're with new people, but I pictured two people in a club dancing very closely together while the song played.

"Back in black":
Spider-Man3.jpg

I did this after seeing the commercial for Spider-Man 3 where the symbiote creeps up Eddie's neck and since I'm a big geek naturally I wanted to put myself in that same situation. Too bad the movie sucked as bad as it did and Venom was a complete waste.

"Country boy can survive":
Matt-Hughes2.jpg

I did this for my favotire UFC fighter Matt Hughes as a possible t-shirt design. I sent it over and they liked it. It's currently featured on Matt-Hughes.com which is cool.

More on the way.

Hey thanks a lot. I'm glad you like my art. I really like the Batman and Supes too, and I think I'm going to take a crack at doing some more stuff just like that.

More on the way.

Absolutely love this:up: So tell us how you really feel about the movie:D What didn't work for you and what if any did?

Here's a few reasons why I almost walked out:

1) WAY too much going on. Since most figured it was the last (yeah right) it's almost like they threw in as much as they could from the mythos to please fans.

2) the whole "Spidey Night Fever" scenes were completely ridiculous. I don't see how being evil causes you to dance. This isn't 1845 where dancing is considered "riske."

3) Venom was a complete waste. While I liked Topher Grace in the part, the scenes with Venom were just thrown in the movie to please fans. That and the fact that his voice sounded terrible when we was Venom (not to mention he didn't refer to himself as "we" once) and you've got a complete waste of one of the best Spidey villians of all time.

4) New Goblin....give me a break.

5) The ending. Sandman: "Hey, so sorry about killing your friend, terrorizing the city, and kicking your ass a bunch of times. I was just trying to help my daughter." Spider-Man: "Oh yeah, no big deal. See ya later."

The movie was just lame from start to finish. It's obvious Raimi has lost his passion for the films and the characters so I'd say if you're going to continue the franchise then get all new people because the current cast/crew is only in it for the money and it shows.

I could go on all day with this one, but I'll spare you guys.

1) I agree they could have done a bit less and been fine. For them it might be the last one but I agree thats why they were "pushing".

2) Completely agree it was ridiculous.

3) Crap I didn't notice he never said we:( I lover topher grace and think he did ok but and i'll be knocked for saying this Raimi Sucks! Grace should have been the new peter parker not brock! I did however love the suit and some of the straight from comic sequences. Didn't like giant symbiote goop inside the bars that just looked like poor CGI to me.

4) I'm ok with new goblin but I hated the suit and that pete blew off half his face.

5) Yeah the ending was kind of like...what?!?!?!?

I absolutely love the spiderman franchise and hope they don't ever stop making them but that has more to do with my love for the mythos than the movies. I keep hoping someone will get it completely right. Don't get me wrong they are brilliant for what they are and that it had never been done but too many things could have been better. A list would be:

Shooters not organics make pete genius
Gwen not MJ This is made more Ridiculous by the fact that Dunst natural color is blond and her character is more gwen than MJ, and The girl who played gwen is naturally a red head who's character is more like MJ than Gwen?!?!?!? Does this make sense to anyone? They should have had Gwen first and killed her then Black Cat then MJ.

Those are my biggies there are a bunch of others though and i'm not even a purist.:D

I don't mind the organics because it's been that way in the movies for 5yrs so I'm used to it, that and the fact that in certain comics they're using organics, it's become almost accepted now.

Gwen was WAY better looking than MJ. I was hoping MJ would die by the end of the movie.

another problem with sm3:

why didn't venom go kill peter in the church?
peter's lying up there, drained, naked, and venom does what?
he goes to find sandman to scheme up a ******ed hostage plan.
you want peter dead? go kill him! plot hole SO big you could drive a car through it. a big car.

ps. cool art.

So I was reading thru some of the arguments that went on here awhile back and I have to say that they actually made me laugh. Some of the stuff that was being "discussed" is the most pointless topic of conversation I've ever seen.

Funny ***** man. Good times.

Here's some more stuff. I don't think I've posted it before but I might have. Either way....

Caricature of my friend Reis:

The background is a mixture of her love for painting and music. Took about 2hrs to do in Illustrator.

Me about a year ago. I look different now, but I like this and haven't wanted to change it:

Enjoy.

Welcome back.
I really like your style, It would lend itself well to animation.
If you keep posting, I'll keep watching. =)
