The artwork of 0neDisturbedSOB

Here's another caricature/avatar I did for a member of the SHH boards. He seemed to REALLY like it, and now I'll be doing another one for him as well as some other work.

What do you mean? the site will be "tested" sometime this week hopefully....just to see how it looks, and if any changes need to be made. I'll keep you all posted leading up to the launch date.

where you talking to me

Do we have to pay you to do these for us? Because thats really cool

He commissioned me to do this as well as some other work. Unfortunately I don't have the time to do these for everyone without charging. From sketch to final colors these take anywhere from 3-5hrs EACH. My girlfriend is a softball player, and her friends went nuts over the caricature I did of her....so of course they all asked her if I could do one of them, now there's like 15+ girls on the team so you can imagine how long that would take.

I really enjoy doing these, as it's not your standard caricature that you'd get done at a fair or a mall....they're a lot more stylized than normal which is why I like them so much.

If you want me to do one of you, I can give you a reasonable price, but I can't do it for free at this time....sorry.

Glad you like it though, I'll have another one up in a day or so!

Hahaha it's not that much money....I was thinking between $15-$20 for the time spent on it. That gives you the right to make any changes you want to the position, colors or overall look of the piece....it's your artwork, I'm just producing it for you.

My Thanksgiving avatar. I plan on doing a new one every month:

Hey SOB,

I hope you don't mind but I have a couple questions.
I want to make some things to print on my T-Shirt, however I'd like to know how you get those lines so damn crisp.

Second, how does this work when you need to enlarge (or vice versa) it a bit for printing, and this all is vector based right? So I don't have to worry about the resolution, right?

Third, can you please show me what your most common settings are (brushes etc.).

Final question, everytime I want to color a part it sticks to the original drawing and I don't want that, I want it on a new layer without the black lines coming through.

1) It's all about knowing line weights and becoming REALLY friendly with the pen tool. I can't really explain it, but the thick black outline that surrounds everything is basically achieved when you grab the basic shape of the piece, copy it, paste it behind and then increase the stroke to something large (I believe this was a 9)

2) It's all vector based so there is no need to worry about resolution.

3) My most common settings are the most common settings on AI. I always have my tools, text, gradient, stroke, color swatch, pathfinder, and info boxes open.

4) I'm not sure I understand the question, but as I've said before...I'm not a fan of layers so everything you see that I've done is always done on a single layer.

I'm actually in the process of having my "average joe" screen printed on some clothing items I designed. I doubt anyone other than my friends/family will wear them, but what the hell.

Hope this helps.

So naturally as soon as my girlfriend saw my "Thanksgiving" picture she immediately informed me that I should do one for her. Since it only took about an 1hr to do mine I figured I could do hers in about the same amount of time....oh how wrong I was.

Since her caricature is less stylized than mine (mine being made up mostly of sharp angles) and her being just a tad more "curvacious" than I am, it ended up taking about 2.5hrs to make her a picture like mine.

Originally I was going to make her a Pilgrim to contrast my Indian, but Pilgrim women wore long black dresses and bonnets....hardly "sexy", and given the amount of room I had, I couldn't really make her look like a "sexy Pilgrim" (at least not without spending 2-3x the amount of time). I decided to make her an indian as well since I could easily translate elements from my picture over to hers (feathers, earrings...etc). Anyway, here is my lovely girlfriend Bree all decked out and ready for Thanksgiving...

Thanks alot man, that sure does help! I still have one question though, I'll Pm ya, don't wanna spam your good thread!

I'll post some breakdowns of how I did each of the caricatures....hopefully it'll shed some light on your questions.

Here's my latest one. Since I missed doing a Halloween one, I figured this was appropriate. I'm working on mine and my girlfriend's Christmas icons as well as our Christmas card which I'm excited about.

Damn good stuff as usual. After all you and billy's work is my influences and what got me on the path to using Illustrator and I've never looked back.

Thanks for the compliment, it's a pretty awesome feeling when you know someone has been inspired by your artwork. Keep practicing and you'll get it. I've been doing it for 6yrs and I'm still learning new things.

Glad you like it. Wait until you guys see my Christmas card.

Love the new one. I prob. wouldnt have gotten into illustrator if it wasnt for u and billy.

glad i was part of the influence for you guys to try out illustrator, but i got to be honest, all you guys influence me, wildcard, SOB, draw4u, cybermonkey, all you guys with your stuff just makes me wanna try harder. but im glad if some of my stuff got you to think differently, and im sure SOB feels the same way.
