Bad example.

You are giving her credit for being able to get teary eyed. Isn't that Day 2 acting class stuff?

I'm giving her credit for emoting in a scene that required emotion, and the end result was the scene worked.


There are other times where her acting is off, like her delivery of "I thought that door was locked..."


But she's capable of giving acceptable performances under the right conditions.

Her acting delivery in "Heir to the Demon" was well done.

Personally, I think my only issue with Caity playing this role is that she has a very "youthful/innocent" look to her.

It's probably just a matter of preference for me, but I always imagined "Black Canary" having this "mature/seasoned" look to her.

True, she looks young. But I think her look immediately changes once she is in full gear.

No one is saying Lotz is going to be winning Oscars. However she made people care about the character, which is the most important part in acting. Sara's reunion scene with both her parents was more heartbreaking then any scene Laure's had in 1 and half seasons.

Plus Cassidy's been acting for awhile and has not improved, Lotz just started acting.

really can see how some of you are fans of the actors/actresses instead of the material. Because if you were fans of the material, you'd be begging for Laurel to be killed off yesterday.

Ditto. Caity Lotz has given a brilliant Black Canary. She has the skills to do the job, what fan of the material would be rooting for someone else who cant do even half as good as she has. And the laurel character is a mess and an embarrassment to the actual comic book character she has nothing in common wither her comic counterpart anymore while Sara has lots, and the actress is not equipped to play the Black Canary.

The only people that want to see Laurel become BC are the fans of KC and people obsessed with her name being Laurel Lance.

When in reality Laurel has nothing in common with the BC of the comics. They've given BC's personality, skills, friendships and partnerships to Sara.

Even her messed up unheathly relationship with Oliver/Green Arrow is more interesting then his with Laurel's. I always thought it was a disservice to Dinah of the comics when she kept taking Oliver back after he cheated on her. So with this BC/GA relationship, they've put them on more even ground being they started with an affair. And with them hooking up again it shows despite everything including make the same mistake again, they can't keep their hands off each other. So I get their relationship. Plus if their relationship lasts, it would be more interesting tv drama if they both cheated on each other with other women.

To be fair, the whole "Oliver is a cheating *****e" thing was a retcon in an of itself. He wasn't always portrayed that way. It wasn't until Judd "I can't write romantic relationships to save my life" Winick starting writing the book that Oliver became this cheating bastard. Other writers then ran with it. It was a disservice to BOTH characters.

I agree. Sara should remain the BC and I don't want to see Laurel killed off. Would be interesting to see how things play out between Oliver Sara & Laurel.

The best compremise is keep laurel as supporting character but keep Sarah as BC.

LOL, no please too much drama but Lol. One more point for Sara's Canary, she understands the Arrow's love for the ladies.
Yeah besides the lack of skills to be Black Canary, romance or no GA/BC romance I just cant see the character of Laurel working with the (Green) Arrow as Black Canary, too much has happened between them to even be an effective partnership. Oliver and Sara are at least on the same wavelength, there is no blame and judgement on the other person. They have both been there, done that. They are equals in almost every way.

Laurel's "Canary" is dead as far as Im concerned, if she cant work along side Oliver/Arrow, there is no point with even going there. The show is still called Arrow not Laurel Lance adventures. Keep the Canary that can work with the Arrow and his team and thats Sara, not one who will want to have their own little show within the show.

Laurel should have been handled absolutely differently, and when they couldn't figure out what to do with her, they should have put her on a bus. I think they still could, honestly. Bring her back when Oliver needs a friend more than anything else. Maybe Laurel's "Black Canary" is less about combat, and more about ransacking people with legal pwnage and insider knowledge.

The only reason they shouldn't kill Sara off is because doing so would get Laurel more hate, and Laurel is one of the leads, and a significant part of Oliver's story that needs to be handled well. Truth though, as soon as the Ra's story is over, she becomes a very redundant character.

Another knock against Laurel becoming BC is she's 29 years old with only classroom martial arts training. She'd need at least a few years of hardcore real world training to even come close to Oliver and Sara's level. So she's going to be in her mid thirties by the time she puts on the mask.

While Oliver and Sara started when they were much younger and would have already had at least 10 years of training and fighting in real world situations by the time it takes Laurel to train.

So I think Laurel is too old to become the Black Canary. The second Canary should be someone younger than both Lance sisters so they could continue the fighting longer. Sin could work, Sara could train her to take over when she retires or dies.
