Less than a month to go...

What are you looking forward to the most?

For me the sister chemistry is my favorite part...

I love how enthusiastic you are about this show.

I am looking foward to Supergirl kicking major butt and just growing into her powers and gaining that confidence.

Your avvy makes me laugh so much.... lol

Well, I think it has been a long time coming, I love how important it is to the cast AND crew, especially Melissa that they do this right, and anytime you can empower young people to go after their Plan A, like there is no Plan B. Then I will be enthusiastically all for that, every time. :)

I suggest we post Supergirl covers with the issue number as number of days remaining. I've seen some countdown threads doing that before (maybe on SHH).

Though, we'll have to wait 12 days before doing it since the longest run is Supergirl vol. 4 with 80 issues followed by vol. 5 with 67.

I remember Willie doing that for the countdown of the first F4 movie....that is an excellent idea.

I wanted to get in on this, and issue (2)85 is one of my favorites period. I love this issue so very much, and it's one of my prized possessions.

I'll be taking over the countdown while Kelly is away, but she left me all the comic pics, so here's today's. :)

I'd be happy to help too, I have most every cover she's appeared on stashed places on my computer.

I would love to have your expertise and help with this....why don't you take over from here and starting today bring in the comic issues you have with our corresponding number...more than one would be fantastic. :yay:

Like Kelly said it would be awesome to have you take over the thread duties. :)

Alright then!

Today we are 82 days out, and we will celebrate with Adventure Comics 382 (Just the second of her 43 issue run headlining that title:

And with Superman Family 182:

Today we are 81 days out, and I only have one cover, but it's an important one! This is the first issue in which Supergirl was the lead character of her own comic - Adventure Comics 381

This is one of the many issues I personally own. :)

Supergirl was the leader of a gang? :funny:

A criminal gang no less!! And she and Batgirl do some hand-to-hand judo style combat in that issue too. This is Supergirl's first appearance in Adventure Comics without being a cameo in a someone else's story. And it is (I think) the first time the Maid of Might ever had the prime spot in any DC comic (rather than being a support strip) and had a story that occupied the whole of an issue from cover to cover.

From memory, let me see if I can fill in some of the details behind just a few of the more interesting covers posted thus far...

Adventure Comics #385: the woman in purple was pretending to be Kara's long lost sister, also sent to Earth in a rocket when Argo City was doomed. In reality she turned out to be a human con artist using various tricks and scams to fake super powers; the idea was to hoax the Maid of Might into demonstrating her own powers by crushing coal into diamonds, then sell the diamonds for a fortune.

Adventure Comics #386: Supergirl saves some random monster in a carnival sideshow and he takes a shine to her. He tracks her down even though she's switched into Linda Danvers, then he pulls off her dress right in front of everyone to turn her back into Supergirl. Yikes! Bang goes the secret id!

Adventure Comics #387: The kid in the picture is Lex Luthor's nephew. Luthor secretly had a kid sister called Lena Thorul who was best friends with Linda Lee Danvers. She was also a telepath. Anyway, eventually Lena got married and had a son who had even more powerful PSI powers than his mom, and the son breaks Uncle Lex out of prison, so Uncle Lex decides to use his nephew's powers to commit crime.

Adventure Comics #386: Braniac creates a Casanova-style robot to woo Supergirl as part of a trap. When the robot turns up on Earth it first goes after Supergirl's best friend Linda Danvers, unaware that Linda is really Supergirl.

Btw, I have a real interesting pic of my own lined up for tomorrow (80 days!) It's not a cover, but it's an obscure Supergirl appearance related very firmly to the number 80. I'm wondering how many fans will be able to tell where it's from(..?)

Part deux...

Action Comics #289: Linda watches some slushy romance movie and decides that, as Supergirl, she going to do a bit of matchmaking for cousin Kal-El. So she zooms back and forth through time getting her cousin to meet all the most interesting and powerful women in Earth's history, but he isn't interested. So she looks for powerful women on other planets, and finds a world where they have a Superwoman hero rather than a Superman, which is more to Superman's liking it seems. Can't remember how the story ends.

Action Comics #290: Had to look up the Supergirl story name, because I didn't recognise the cover. In this tale Supergirl gets stricken by Red Kryptonite, and ends up giving super powers to anyone she kisses. Of course, she ends up kissing a load of people before it dawns on her what's going on!

Adventure Comics #391: I'm a bit vague on this issue because there's at least two stories where Linda becomes a movie star, and I'm pretty certain the one I remember best (the one with the snake) was from Action Comics. I'll dig out the issue and re-read it.

[EDIT: Linda gets a job playing Supergirl in a movie, but it turns out the studio's press agent is rigging all the super-stunts to make them genuinely dangerous.]

Adventure Comics #392: Very hazy memory of this story, but for some reason a gang of criminals gets all the young women of Stanhope to dress as Supergirl in some plot to expose Supergirl. Anyway the whole thing hinges on the fact that Linda can't wear the costume provided by the gang, and her real costume is unusable or damaged somehow. At the end she dramatically pulls upon her Linda shirt to reveal her real Supergirl outfit underneath (fixed, and delivered to her moments before by one of her Supergirl robots) and basically claims she was wearing it the whole time under her Linda clothes -- and gang say "oh, yeah, so you obviously can't be Supergirl then!" Something like that, I think!

[EDIT: her real costume is contaminated with radiation, and the fake costume gets friction burned when she does some super-speed activities in it.]
