• DARK REIGN BEGINS (Contributed by: Harley_X) - With the new DARK AVENGERS Variant Cover revealed, people are buzzing to know: who is the Iron Patriot? Is it Norman Osborn? Tony Stark? Nick Fury? Or, even, Steve Rogers? With the new arc Dark Reign now running as the aftermath of Skrull Invasion, people are introduced to a Dark Illuminati including Namor, Emma Frost, Doctor Doom, Loki (taking his female form), The Hood and, their leader, Norman Osborn. Making Iron Man most wanted man alive, shutting down SHIELD and replacing it with HAMMER, Norman Osborn is easily loved by the people of America. But what they don't know, is that Norman has plans to conquer the country itself. After killing Songbird, Norman gets Yelena Belova into the Thunderbolts. The answer to the looming question about the Iron Patriot's identity will not be revealed in the first issue of DARK AVENGERS. The movement to ACCEPT CHANGE has begun.
  
• HUGH JACKMAN HAS BEEN SELECTED TO...Host the Academy Awards, airing on February 22nd. Sid Ganis, chairman of the Academy of Arts and Science, was recently interviewed by MARVEL.COM, and speculated at the possibility of a superhero film winning Best Picture any time soon. He said that, while he thinks superhero films still could have a way to go, two movies this year "bit into the possibility. One was "THE DARK KNIGHT" and the other was "IRON MAN." • A NEW PROMOTIONAL IMAGE for X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE was released a few days ago. The image can be viewed via a link on the SUPERHEROHYPE front page or by clicking this link.
• WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN premiers on January 23 on the Nickelodeon Network. Taking place in an alternate timeline, WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN tells he story of the aftermath of an attack on Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters that results in the apparent disappearance of Professor Xavier and Jean Grey. The X-Men disband and go their separate ways. One year after the attack, mutant hate and intolerance is on the rise and the government begins detaining superhumans. Wolverine and Beast begin to reassemble the team in hopes of defeating the Sentinel Project.
• THE WEBSITE FOR THE HULK VS. series has been posted online. Produced by MARVEL animated features, HULK VS WOLVERINE and HULK VS THOR are both on the way in just about 20 days. Each film is the same style as the THE INVINCIBLE IRON MAN and ULTIMATE AVENGERS films that came before them. Deadpool is scheduled to make an appearance in HULK VS WOLVERINE. • DYNAMIC THEATER ARTS is releasing a series of busts, statues, and other collectibles based on the summer film IRON MAN. Featured as a top story on MARVELOUSNEWS, the collectibles take inspiration from the comics and movies alike, displaying the movie MARK III armor in classic poses from the comic books.

EDITORIAL

• WOLVERINE-MANIA has hit the MARVEL UNIVERSE. He's the subject of a new movie, a new cartoon, two new toylines, a variant and regular figure in the latest MARVEL LEGENDS wave, and a regular appearance in several books (including a few titles of his own). MARVEL has clearly found their latest cash cow, and they're milking it for all it's worth. Sure, Wolverine is a cool character, but he's just a flavor-of-the-week at this point. In all the hubub over Wolverine, hopefully his character won't be too drastically altered. The best thing a writer or creator can do for his character is keeping his character simple. If Wolverine gets too, too popular, his stories may grow more and more drastic (much like they did in the 80's and 90's). Hopefully, his writers can show some restraint this time 'round.

Hmm... That doesn't seem to have as nice a ring to it as EXCELSIOR!
