The Dark Knight The Dark Knight Art Book

I came here thinking someone already gotten the art book for Dark Knight I guessed wrong. Seems that you're all speculating whether it will come out sooner than the 22nd. If it does come out sooner than the listed date of release, you're more likely to find it at the local 'big comic book' shop rather than your local Barnes and Nobles or Borders. If you live in the NYC area, you can also check out Shakespeares bookstores since they sometimes get books before the major bookstore chains too.

Otherwise, you're just going to have to wait until the 22nd.

I would think comic stores will get these in before the release date. I know Midtown Comics received their movie books early.

Anyone going to borders any time soon?

I'm probably going to stop by Borders today. If I do, I'll let you all know if they had the book in stock yet.

As myself and other posters have noted, the book will not be out at Borders and Barnes and Nobles till the 22nd. Dont bother wasting the gas or phone call.

All early releases are B.S.

This thread is ******ed, the mods should lock this up until the book actually IS out.

Why are people angry or annoyed just because we're talking about and are excited for this book? (okay only 2 people)

Because we already stated that it isn't coming out till the 22nd. No early sales or whatever people were saying a couple pages back. The leg work was already done for you guys. We are excited as well, but we are trying not to build up false hype.

hmm. my borders told me next week. hopefully thats true.

The title 'The art of The Dark Knight' - that was used to initally promote the book pre-release - is really misleading as to what you actually get and what the book actually says on the cover. The book itself is called 'The Dark Knight: Featuring production art and complete shooting script' and it's more geared to the script, as there are only sixty pages that cover art and photos. There is some good stuff in there, but it's only scraping the surface. It's nice to have the script, but if you are expecting a comprehensive selection of art you will be disappointed.

I don't understand why they didn't do what they did for Begins by producing an art book and a seperate script book.

And I own a number of these script books, I point to the Hellboy 2 on in particular, because of how much more comprehensive and inclusive it is. Plus, given the price (I payed $30 for the hardcover, which is all they had at the time), I feel a little jipped because of most of the photos that are in the book are the size of avatars here. I would say wait for the next issue of Cinefex magazine if your looking for better more in detail information that you would be expecting in this book.

I wish the art book had pictures of all the goon masks made for the movie. Now that, would be incredible and I would buy it in an instant.

I did like some of the early concepts of the Joker in the book though. Like him leaving the hospital and the interrogation scene.

I hate to say it, and this is nothing on Nolan, but some fan art I seen here last year looked better and more true to what we seen in the final movie than some of the pre-production art I seen in the book. There was some bad photoshop art in there, notably the shot walking away from the hospital, and the Zombie joker pics.

i'm expecting another book... with two-face pics, more about the joker make-up on heath... and the overall film in general...

seems like there is a huge effort to keep two-faces look away from the public until the film has been released completely around the world.. and everyone has had a chance to see it.

Yeah, the hospital shot is kind of weird; he's not even white...

I wonder how much they actually gave us because you see a photo of Nolan's garage and there's quite a few drawings on the wall that aren't in the book.

I wouldn't hold your breath on another book, Dr Crane. I just hope they have some brilliant extras on the DVD/Bluray that detail the development of the characters and set design.

Even 'The Art of Superman Returns' was better than this book. :csad:

well... it this IS the definitive book... and they don't ever release one with officially pics of harvey/two-face.... booo...

also.. i would love to see more on the bat-pod's creative process. i liked that with the "begins" book we got to see the early tumbler designs...

time will tell...

Some of the pre-pro stuff :down. There's definitely better fan-art here and on conceptart.org.

The Art of Hellboy was nice though!

Has anyone put up any scans from the book. I hear it all looks bad, but I can't say I'm not curious.
