That's where the problem lies. Iron Man doesn't have that many fans in the Marvel realm alone. He's famous yes but recently in Marvel comics infamous is the exact wording. He's simply hated by fans of Spider-Man, Hulk and Captain America. The irony (not pun intended) is he's the next best thing Marvel has to join Spider-Man and X-Men/Wolverine as the best franchises for motion picture.
DC is focused or maybe too focused in promoting its two foremost character in film business and comics. Batman has the luxury of this. Marvel put a lot of eggs in the basket, and even put slightly rotten eggs to the basket (like Ant Man). Iron Man as a potential golden egg is relegated to the same level like Iron Fist -> this is more in the comics.
So don't expect Iron Man to be in the same level of Batman. I bet he will be far behind, triggering Marvel to rethink their strategy of "Equal Opportunity" for their characters.
