Alright guys... bare with me here. I know this sounds almost impossible and perhaps a bit too optimistic (and silly!) but in all honesty, Steven Spielberg needs to direct The Flash with John Williams doing the score.

I agree. Let's get Martin Scorcese and Ennio Morricone to do Aquaman while we're at it.

Scorsese wouldn't work for for Aquaman (though I think he could do a kickass Huntress or Question).

How about James Cameron?

I don't mind Spielberg at all .or what about Sam Raimi? He left Marvel to give a hand to Mr WB :cwink:

he would be great (raimi) but i'd be afraid he'd make the movie too long.

i dont know about spielberg, he's a hit and miss. indiana jones wasnt as great as it could've been

I would love Spielberg for almost any superhero really.

But John Williams for Flash I just dont know. Flash seems more like a Elfman job

But Elfman already took on The Flash with the tv series and in my opinion, it sounded too much like his Batman theme.

Another director I would love to see take on The Flash is Robert Zemeckis.

Oh i didnt know that, I still think hes a little better suited. Theres always been more of a snap to his work the same way theres more of a snap to his character

If Spielberg does choose to direct a comic flick, I'm betting it's Captain America when they finally greenlight it. That seems like his territory.

if almost threw off guard when i saw the title of this thread.

I knew it was somebody just doing a "what if". We never learn to pose these titles as a question, and not a factual statement.

Hmm....were you watching "Catch Me if You Can" when you thought of this?

Actually, Morricone might be a perfect fit for Aquaman...

...but I digress. :oldrazz:

Seriously, I don't see Spielberg doing a superhero movie. That ship sailed off a long, long time ago when Alexander Salkind first thought "Jaws" was going to be a box-office turd. IMO the closest we'll ever get to a comic-book movie of any kind out of Spielberg is with the Man in the Hat. :cwink:

Still...even though he's spent so many years making serious films he was probably destined to stumble in bringing Indy back...I wouldn't mind seeing a more flush Spielberg tackling Cap, or maybe even bringing the Lone Ranger back to the screen.

oooooo Spielberg tackling the Lone Ranger is a nice idea.

Any other old non Marvel/DC comic serial type thing could be cool, but maybe to much like Indy ultimately.

Yeah you're so right, it sounded almost exactly his Batman theme from the Burton series.

I doubt Spielberg would take up the Flash, but you never know. To look at it realistically, I believe in David Dobkin as director. If only WB would get the damn thing greenlit for him by the end of the year!

Indeed! That and The Terminal.
I think the tone of those two movies is really what I want to see in a flash movie. Something upbeat and light-hearted. Tom Hanks as old man Jay Garrick wouldn't be too bad either.

Maybe S3 was too long but S1&S2 were good movies. If I was Raimi instead of risking to fail on spider-man 4(we all know sequels are risky) I would surprise every body by going at WB (which BTW needs help so its a good timing). Raimi is still hot as a director so I know If he does 'The Flash' , spider-man fan will follow him no question ask.

I must agree on that.

I wouldnt mind a Spielberg directed Flash. IMO, I wouldnt put up a fight with him directing any of the DCU (except maybe Batman. I dont think Bats plays to his strengths.) However, the second George Lucas comes aboard, I abandon ship.

Why The Flash? Green Lantern, on the other hand....Sounds like something he'd fancy doing.

They could do both of them: green lantern wont be as demanding as the flash.. Anyways some time I feel like I'm waisting my time. WB is in the coma not listening to anybody.

I'd rather give Green Lantern to Ridley Scott who also does space and science fiction very well.

I choose Steven because you look at his resume and they range from family films for all ages to very mature dramas. Blend that with his ability to create iconic images with brilliantly framed shots featuring things that are constantly moving in the background and you get one hell of a superhero flick. Add John Williams to the mix and it's a recipe for success. Flash's main super power being speed seems right up Steven's alley because he's real good at raising the stakes which is crucial to almost every movie especially in the action genre. Just look at the sequences of all four Indiana Jones' movies and picture Flash in the same situation but the dangers being on a much more broader scale.

It just feels like Steven can give us something real special if he did a Flash movie.
