Does anybody believe that this franchise will just start all over? I was one who was slightly dissapointed with the direction of X-3. I am a fan of Ratners and believe he just didnt have any control over the last movie. I hate to compare this to the revamping Batman took but I honestly dont feel the need to hold a grudge to tight cause I just feel someone will get this franchise right. I notice that they are revamping the incredible Hulk as well. What are your thoughts?

i hope so because in the future i want a more comic feel in the x-movies instead of the realistic look that singer created. he put too much limitations by doing that.

I disagree. I think that the realistic feel is what made the movies so good. I don't think that the unreality of the comics, cartoons, etc. translates well to a movie with real actors (yes, I know that's a contradiction in terms, but you get my point).

you don't know that. just because one formula worked doesn't mean that the other wouldn't.being more unrealistic doesn't take away any emotions if it is done right.

Not really. Realism is initially a smart way to introduce a franchise because once a fantastical element is finally introduced into such an environment, it makes it that much more incredible. If mutant hunting robot sentinels had been introduced as a realistic threat in a realisitic environment, they would have been much cooler and much scarier than a couple of pink and purple robots that you know are going to pose no threat to a bunch of kids outfitted in spandex.

i'm not talking about spandex or purple robots, but in a singer's world there even isn't place for any kind of sentinels. also some villains like apocalypse or even sinister would be misplaced according to some.
the powers of various mutants are toned down too much. i know that many of this was done because the budget of x-1 didn't allow for anything more than what we got, but singer didn't even leave space for a small increase in "unrealistic" stuff. it doesn't have to be over the top, but at least more than what we got so far.

well stated, I totally agree

They're not going to reboot this anytime soon. It had at least two really succesful movies, and if you'll recall, it took Batman about ten years before he ever got revamped again.

X-men is the kind of story that I feel has always aimed to be real and the comic books have veered to a "comic book"-esque style but I feel the essense of the comics is still based on reality and if it were to restart Id want the director to keep the reality to X-men. I love it that way...and yes, that means no uncanny X-men suits

If there's a place for adamantium-laced amnesiacs, Cerebro machines, metamorphs, and weather wielding women, there's a place for sentinels. There's always room for sentinels... and Apocalypse and Mr. Sinister, as they are in the comics, would be out of place in just about every single comic book adaptation to date.

If the do an X4, I think they need to bring in some new blood as far as the writing goes. My biggest problem with the X-Men films was poor character development. The movies should have been called "Wolverine and Some Other X-Men". I understand the reason behind featuring a character like Wolverine, regardless of who ever your favorite character is I think everyone can agree that Wolverine has that "it" quality, that universal coolness that everyone can appreciate. However where the writers and directors of X-Men failed is that instead of making all the characters interesting, unique, and cool in their own way, they made everyone else so bland and vanilla that Woverine was the only character that had any personality.

That's poor writing and poor directing in my opinion, you don't make you're lead character the bad ass lead character by making everyone else around him so dull and uninteresting that he's the only one you take interest in, you make him the lead by separating him from the crowd. Can anyone honestly tell me that Cyclops or Storm or Colossus were representative at all of their comic personas? So to sum up if they do an X4 they need to get a writer(s) that can handle group writing and character development.
