I did for a while too until going though BB and TDK many times and once they played that scene in TDKR it kinda solidified it for me.

Its not necessary to see Quantum to understand Skyfall.

Also, I agree with you on Gordon, C. Lee. I figured Gordon had an idea of who Bruce was but didn't want to have it confirmed (just like in the comics).

QoS can be easily summed up as Bond going on a revenge spree after what happened to Vesper. I wouldn't call it a terrible film though.
