The Grinch Refuge Thread

Yeah, it does seem that more poeple put up lights when I was a little kid. We used to go driving at nights when I was a kid down this one neighborhood and almost every house was lit up. This year, hardly any.

Eh, it's over now. Is there an anti-Valentine's day thread?

Make one.

I'm glad this thread is around. I'm not christian, I hate consumerism, I'm poor, and Santa Claus was created by Coca Cola.

Call me a Grinch.

^Grinch.

I really ****ing hate Christmas, you have no ideal!

Hey what happened? Nobody revived the thread this year. Have all the grinches (shudder) caved in and surrendered to this nightmarish season?

I wouldn't say that I hate Christmas...I'm just having a harder time getting into the spirit this year.

I wonder if I could sleep all day this Christmas. I think that would be an accomplishment. *puts on to-do list*

Weee, it's Christmas Eve and I'm off to work. Just like I will be on Christmas, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday :down

The days when you were only concerned with what Satan Claus was gonna bring you. Now at age 31 I'm more concerned about the budget I have in order to buy the fam their gifts.

I'm concerned with trying to contain my hostility for anybody wanting to bring me good holiday cheer and good will towards men... eat my butt.

Here's to 2009... the worst year in the history of my life. Who eles'es life was ruined by 2009??

**** 2009!!!

Well, with someone close to me going to jail for reasons I won't discuss, this is quite possibly the worst Christmas since for me since 8 years ago when my mom slipped into a coma on Christmas Eve and my grandma got so stressed out about it she had a heart attack on Christmas day.

So congratulations, world. This is the second Christmas I've ever truly hated.

did Christmas put that person in jail?? No, it didn't

Im sorry for your issues, but you can't pin that on the holiday season

I dont mind stupid excuses for consumerism. What bothers me is when Christians celebrate it. It is absolutely a pagan holiday in every sense of the term, and the bible that Christians claim to follow forbids false idol worship and repeatedly warns against participating in pagan activities disguised as being for god...and yet they do it anyway. If an atheist does it, it's fine, but it is impossible to be both a Christian and someone who celebrates christmas, without intentionally doing something that your god says will send your soul to hell. It's weird.

well the Church co-opted it and 98 percent of people don't know the actual origin of the holiday

First of all, the church did not co-opt it. Constantine was a sun god worshipper who pacified the Christians by bringing them into the pagan rituals. The statues of the sun god were left up and called "Jesus". That's why the modern day image of Christ looks like Apollo rather than the mideastern man than Yehoshua actually was.

Besides, the bible says it is wrong to worship false idols and graven images. It even explicitly says that if you are doing it but claiming it's for God, it IS NOT and you are still participating in a pagan ritual. I know, I know...the bible is old and God probably would want his people to party...so we can neglect all of that...but the rest f the bible is the perfect unerring word of god.

wasn't Jesus born in the summer time? also...he was brown.
