Hehe... Del has sounded the same since the early 90s. Actually, he sounds like he's channeling Mike Shinoda a little bit in that one. Good stuff.

you know who I actually like that has been accused of killing hip hop? Nelly.

Yeah he exaggerates his "accent", but all his club songs are solid and catchy and never got as stupid as Candy Shop or Crank that. But where I think he is really good are his girl tracks like One & Only, My Place, and Dilemma

And that is my confession for the day

I've got no problem with Nelly. Its more the novelty rap, auto tune, fake gangster stuff thats killing hip hop than say Nelly who makes pop rap stuff.
**** my old man likes Jay-Z's recent stuff, whilst back in the day he hated him. Goes to show how much has changed.

But I do still like Jay-Z. Just not as much as I used to. To be honest I don't like hip hop as much as I used to. There is only a handful of artists that I like now. The rest of it is either bubblegum pop crap or fake gangster wannabe crap ie Weezy.

Stuff like Hard Knock Life was pretty poppish. Heck Jay even performed it on Top Of The Pops back in the day.

100% agree with you on the Hip Hop front. I've been listening to less and less Hip Hop and there are only few artists around today who I would really listen too.

ditto

When I was a kid, I used to wonder how adults would reach the point where they were unaware or uninterested in the music kids listened to.

Now that I'm only in my mid-20s, I can see myself shaking my fist at today's kids for listening to crap that doesn't hold a candle to the classics of my day.

I still like alot of other different music around today. I'm not one of those old people who don't really follow modern music but say it all sucks anyway or compares every artist around today to whatever other really successful artist was around in their youth.

People tend to be a little nostalgic but I can remember just as much awful music in the 90s as there is today.

Has anyone listened to Bishop Lamont's mixtape, Team America?! Awesome and funny as hell!

How the [EFF] is Gucci Mane underground?

when i hear underground, i think Little Brother, Psalm 1

gucci mane? never

Yeah, Gucci Mane is most definitely not underground. But I listen to a couple songs from him.

I've been listening to a lot of 2Pac lately...

Nothing else really seems very listenable anymore.

Sorry thought Gucci Man was underground, cause not alot of people I know talk about him alot as he this big mainstream rap star.

I begin with a quote:

"I farted and it smelled (you're nasty)
It smelled like a stinkbomb (you're nasty) "

- Soulja Boy (Lyrics from "Hey you" )

Okay...I respect that everybody has their taste in music but modern rap...like, really? Is this music? Have people stopped to listen to some of the lyrics from these so called "artist"? They make absolutely NO SENSE. I feel like society is rewarding people for being MENTALLY ******ED. "Oh, you're singing about absolute nonsense....GREAT...heres a multimillion dollar contract"

Its just so sad. Its like it takes no effort to become an "artist" these days. I could make a song like this:
"Scratch yo toe bit**!! (WHATTTTT!?!) Scratch yo toe!! (OOOOO-kai!!) Scratch yo toe!! (AAAYYYYYEEEE!) Scr-scr-scr-SCRATCH YO TOE!! (O-kai!!!)" add a ******ed dance to that and have a random idiot like soulja boi do it and I GUARANTEE you it will be a hit. GUARANTEE!

I'm just wondering what happened to people with real talent. What happened to hip hop artist like Tupac? Biggie? Lauryn Hill? Nas? etc
Surely there are more talented people out there. Why are people getting paid millions for doing nothing?

Anyway random song from Soulja Boy to see what Im talking about. Can I even call this a song? Wow...wtf.

This thread will probably get moved... but there are still very talented hip hop artists out there. They are just not in the limelight like they should be.

I blame youtube.

More like: "Humans these days...what the BLEEP happened?" Supply and demand.
