The Dark Knight The Joker no.3 on Empire's 100 greatest movie characters

Awesome :hoboj:

No Batman on the list. But there's two other comic book characters on there: Tony Stark is at number 48, and Wolverine at 81.

It's still pretty trivial anyway. These lists change every year with the times. What's number three now will be number ten next year and so on, behind the latest movies of the future. The list is usually determined by what films are then fashionable. Ten to one something like Thor will be in the top ten next year. Why? Because it's the latest summer block buster coming out. These have no merit, but they're kind of fun.

Pleased he is so high up, but any list that places Tyler Durden as number 1 above Vader is crap IMO.

I'm happy Bale got on the list!... But as Patrick bateman :D

Tyler Durden as #1? That's...interesting.

Tyler Durden #1?

Well he is a great movie character and would definitely be in my top 25, but No.1? I don't think so.

The Joker not #1? This is bull crap! Tyler Derden is nowhere near as interesting as the Joker. You know why? - Because he isn't real.

You know how you make sense? You turn a dollar into a hundred pennies.

Are you good for anything besides being annoying?

And you could at least spell his name right. It's D-U-R-D-E-N.

White Goodman is on the list?

I think when people voted they had to submit 5 names. So I'm guessing they subconsciously thought 'well I only have 5 choices so i don't want to have two characters from the same film...', hence no batman. Clearly if this poll were conducted 5 years later Tony Stark probably wouldn't be in there at all, but there you go.

I love the picture they up for the Joker

Never seen it before and it looks really cool

While Bale is really good Bruce Wayne imo as Batman hes great to but that whole forced voice thing really comes across cheesy sometimes especilly when he makes the last speech to Gordon before he drives off having cops chase him

I do find it a shame that Batman isn't on there at all, because the Joker is ONLY interesting in relation to Batman. Take his relationship with Batman away and he's just another flamboyant villain.

Glad to see the Joker ranked so high. I voted for him as #1. Here was my top five:

1. The Joker (The Dark Knight)
2. Daniel Plainview (There Will Be Blood)
3. Marge Gunderson (Fargo)
4. Don Logan (Sexy Beast)
5. Milton Dammers (The Frighteners)

My top three made the list, so I can't really complain. It's all subjective, anyway, so complaining about the placing of characters is a bit pointless. The merit of a list comes through how the list is presented, and here Empire does well in their overview of each character.

Ellen Ripley above Corleone and Bond. ABOVE BOND!!! THIS IS MADNESS!!! :shock
