Honestly, I get that people want a proper adaption of avatar especially after the last mess but for me the legend of korra is where it's at. It's fantastic and a great place to start fresh. Plus it's history! Here's who I would cast...

Korra - ellen wong
Asami - hana Mae Lee
Bolin - Michael hing
Mako - jordan Rodriguez
Tenzin - ken watanabe of course!

Second, no matter what you feel about Korra, it is kind of irrelevant without TLA.

After what happened to Avatar, I don't want Korra tainted. And based on how it looks like TMNT turned out, I don't exactly trust Nickelodeon's movie division.

Saying TLOK is irrelevant without TLA is kind of obtuse. Like, if you want to understand all the references and everything, sure you should watch the first series. But it's in no way something you have to watch to understand TLOK.
