Of course the great Mr. Rickman takes precedence, but you will dig the hell out of BTILC I guarantee it.
Well I have to agree with Reek in doubting you'll like them any more now if you didn't at 13, but hey, good on you for giving 'em another shot nonetheless. And I do think watching 'em before TFA is a good idea. There's really no point in watching TFA if the originals still don't work for you, imo.
And yeah yeah, I know I gotta get on Big Trouble. But...I just saw that Galaxy Quest has appeared on Netflix, so in honor of Alan Rickman, BTiLC shall just have to wait a little longer.

Spotlight is about journalists with that "thrill of the chase" aspect which made it much more involving for me than the Big Short. It's the same aspect that makes Zodiac my favorite Fincher film - with every piece of new evidence they uncover, it's like you're right there with them, infuriated and more determined than ever to catch the SOB's responsible. It's a film I will definitely want to re-watch whenever it hits TV, which is more than I can say for half the other nominees.Spotlight and The Big Short look too much like Oscar bait to me, I'm hesitant to watch them. But I'm glad we're at a time and place where studios will spend big money on grown up films again.

Ha! I saw Galaxy Quest today.
When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."

Well to be clear, it doesn't touch Zodiac, lol. Cuz, ya know, it doesn't have that Fincher-y goodness. I'm just saying that one aspect is similar. And Mark Ruffalo. So two aspects.Zodiac is one of my favourite movies, so I can't stress how much you've upped my interest in Spotlight.
I had forgotten how crush-worthy 80's Kurt Russell was, so my motivation to get to Big Trouble in Little China has just doubled thanks to the gif posted above. Thank you KRYPTON.

*Smokes some Hobbit stuff.*
My top ten films of all time. I don't like to make lists, but it kinda hit me that these films are always off my shelf and in constant play. lol
No particular order.
Jaws
Big Trouble in Little China
Blow Out
8 1/2
Pulp Fiction
Taxi Driver
Don't Look Now
Le Samurai
The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly
House (obayashi)
They're right to part the boy from that creature. They are....unclean.
