Features:

Control A: “Releases powerful jacks to boost the car so that Sparky, our mechanic, can quickly make any necessary repairs or adjustments.” Although designed for this practical function, the auto jacks have also been used to “leap” the car short distances at high speeds, as a wedge to prevent the car from toppling over a waterfall, as an alternative braking systems, and as a tool to crush cars in a car-wrestling match.

Control B: Sprouts special grip tires for traction over any kind of terrain. At the same time, 5,000 horsepower is distributed equally to each wheel by auxiliary engines.” Definition of “any kind of terrain”: firm, icy, or unsteady ground; ocean floor; vertical mountainsides.

Control C: “For use traveling over heavily wooded terrain. Powerful rotary saws protrude from the front of the Mach 5 to slash and cut any and all obstacles.” The rotary saws have also been used as a means of self-defense.

Control D: “Releases a powerful deflector which seals the cockpit into an air-conditioned, bullet- and crash-proof, and water-tight chamber. Inside it, I am completely isolated and shielded.” The deflector also protects against sleeping gas.

Control E: “The control for special illumination which can be traversed singly or in tandem, and which enables me to see much farther and more clearly than with ordinary headlights. It’s invaluable in some weird and dangerous places that I race the Mach 5.” When used with the “night shades” attached to Speed’s helmet, his vision is enhanced with infrared light.

Control F: “Used when the Mach 5 is under water. First, the cockpit is supplied with oxygen. Then, a periscope is raised to scan the surface of the water. Everything that is seen is relayed down to me by television.” The 100-pound auxiliary supply of oxygen is enough to last for thirty minutes.

Control G: “Releases a homing robot from the front of the car. The homing robot can carry pictures or tape recorded messages to whomever or whenever I want to send them.” The robot also can carry handwritten messages, X-ray film, rope, and small Egyptian statues, and it has been used as a means of defense. The bird-like device is operated by a built-in remote control within the cockpit. A separate button sends the robot “home.”

Button H: button is, unlike the other buttons, not located on the steering wheel; instead is located on a console between the seats. Button H is part of the Go Homing Robot's controls, and it simply sends the robot "home” to a pre-programmed location, usually Speed's house.

The Mach Five also has a small trunk, which is unusual in a race car but was featured in many episodes, often as a hiding place for main characters Spritle (Kurio Mifune) and Chim-Chim (Senpei).

While the original manga features many of the above functions seen in the anime, and while there are buttons on the steering wheel, it does not "codify" the functions in any way, making the letter designations exclusive to the anime.

Features:

- Spherical bombs could be deployed from its sides.

- An afterburner[36] was housed in the back.

- Two M1919 Browning machine guns were hidden behind flaps in each fender.

- For quick maneuvers, this Batmobile had side-mounted grappling hook launchers and a central "foot" carjack capable of lifting the car and rotating it 180°.

- It has superhydraulics for course changes, and a batdisc ejector (side-mounted) that could fire precisely 15 Batdiscs in the 1-second pulse.

- chassis-mounted shinbreakers, oil slick dispensers and smoke emitters.
- Inside, the two-seat cockpit featured aircraft-like instrumentation, a passenger's side monitor, self-diagnostics system,

- CD recorder, and voice-command recognition system.

- A secondary mode referred to as the "Batmissile", where the wheels would retract inward and the sides of the vehicle would break off, converting the car into a thin bullet train-like form capable of squeezing through tight alleyways.

- The Batmobile's shields are made of ceramic fractal armor panels. They explode outward when struck by projectiles, deflecting injurious force away from the car and its occupants.

THE COURSE:

Baja 1000

The track itself is not overly dangerous, however it's the spectators that you should be worried about. Hardly any competitive event down the Baja peninsular has gone without kidnappings and/or shootings because of the notorious gang warfare. The most notable event was when a driver for Team Malo was kidnapped for nine days by ex-police officers!

NO RULES AND ALL GIMMICKS ALLOWED!!!

WHO YA GOT!

Mach 5. The Batmobile isn't build for purely racing.

Reasons why Speed Racer the movie flopped..

1. The wachowskis forgot that the CAR is the star of the show..yeah the show is called Speed Racer but we only watched for the MACH 5.. Sure speed had to figure out what ever mystery and intrigue he was caught up in but he used the car to do that. If I wanted to see a straight up catoon mystery I'll watch scooby-doo. The writers of the show was good at striking that balance.

2. Speed participated in two types of races. A Nascar style track race and elaborate/bizarre off road type races nearly all of which involved the Mach 5. The wachowskis invented some kind of hot wheels track race that DIDN'T have the MACH 5 in it!

3. I don't know what 3 is because I lost interest in the flick by the halfway point.
