The MLB 2007 Thread

Nope, that sounds stupid. But still, we need a first baseman bad. Franco's doing fine, but that guy is going to drop dead any second. Or retire.

Who were the three prospects? And couldn't they resign him after the year 1/2 period?

Atlanta offered Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Matt Harrison, and Elvis Andrus. They're trying to get a reliever (Gagne, Wilson, or Mahay) in the deal.

They could but he's a Boras client and they always become free agents so the market can determine their value.

For comparison, the Angels offered Casey Kotchman and Nathan Haynes or Terry Evans. One of Ervin Santana, Joe Saunders, or Nick Adenhart may be part of the deal as well.

Well, it doesn't seem like a terrible deal if they can get Gagne out of it. And get the **** rid of Wickman.

Of those 3 relievers, Mahay was the most likely. It does not look like Gagne will move, especially not in that deal. The teams most needing relief help re the Dodgers, Tigers, and Indians. The Tigers and Indians are 2 teams Gagne has blocked in his contract, it'd be very complicated moving him there. The Dodgers are Gagne's old team and I doubt they have any interest in re-acquiring him (especially if they have to part with their young guys).

I've heard the Yankees and Mets are interested in him and are teams he'd accept a trade to without any compensation. Though their interest sounds limited since Texas would ask for too much.

I don't even know who Mahay is. All I know is that Wickman should be fired. :cmad:

So it's the Cubs fault that the teams they put on their schedule during the off-season are under .500?

No. But it goes to show that their winning 22 of 31 games isn't nearly as impressive as it sounds. :o

Yeah take a look at this cream puff schedule. The last 22 games they have played have been against these teams:

Washington-4 games
Pittsburgh-3 games
Houston-3
San Fran.- 4
Arizona-3
St. Louis- 3
Cincy.- 2 (3rd game tomorrow).

The only decent team in that schedule were the D'Backs and they lost the series to them. They played a combined 11 games against the last place teams in the NL West, East and Central. Every other game they won except for the one game they beat Arizona have been against the other ****ty NL Central teams in the Cards, Houston and Cincinnati.

sounds like the braves have to be the favorites since the angels have backed off. rangers wanted kotchman, saunders, and either kendrick, wood, santana, or adenhart. f*** that.

well, maybe santana...

The Rangers got greedy. They had the perfect deal but just asked for too much.

I'd take Gagne back. I love the guy, and I'm willing to forgive the greedy attitude he had. But not at the price of a young prospect, your right he's not worth that much.

Every team still has plenty of chances to blow, so I'm not worried about that. There's still 2 months left of ball left.

Only two thing matters when the season ends- who is in first and who wins the wild card.

He's a Cubs fan too? ****ing hell. They don't even have baseball in Nebraska

I know its not and I credit the Cubs for beating those crappy teams. What I'm saying is don't take the Cubs for something they are not based on these games.

Yeah, Addendum already let me know. I don't follow minor leagues much. I live near St. Pete so I see the D-Rays. Also, I live near Tampa so I see the Yankees spring training and sometimes the Braves in Orlando, though that's about 2 hours away. And my dad can get a ride on the Metro to the Nats games. So, I'm like close to a bunch of MLB teams.
