Hi everyone,

now that it looks like Godzilla versus Kong is a hit, what should come next for the monsterverse? I would love to see ebirah but I know he’s not as much of a box office draw as kong. I heard they were thinking of doing a pacific rim crossover once. That might be fun

With the other Monsterverse i would have a few ideas, but this...outside of Godzilla and Kong i have no clue who else is there.
Didnt Mothra die? I dont remember.

So i dont know, can people throw in a few names of Monsters who exist in that universe, that would help.

I think the Godzilla movies need to take a break. Maybe focus more on Kong for now. After four films, it’s pretty clear that they’re incapable of writing good human stories. The box office numbers are more of a testament to the fact that people are ready to go back to the theaters than the actual quality of GvK.

Jet Jaguar!
And the return of the epic tail-slide-drop-kick maneuver.

I hope we continue to get big budget Hollywood films with Toho Kaiju, but I’m not that attached to the MonsterVerse one way or another. In some ways, I’d almost prefer the next American Godzilla film be it’s own thing.

The Transformers movies were popular. People like dumb **** sometimes. Its a movie that screams for the big screen.

Honestly, I have no idea if the Monsterverse can continue. I'm sure the box office success is going to heal some stuff, but Legendary has a tendency of pissing off who ever they are currently working with. It does give me some hope for negotiations with Toho, though god knows what monsters they will let Legendary actually use.

Biollante would be such an AWESOME story to adapt, link it with climate change or something, but it would make the most contemporary sense.

I definitely want to see more of Kong in these movies with the next movie focusing more on the Hollow Earth stuff and him exploring that alot more.

I also hope that they do bring back some of the other Titans along with Rodan since he did survive in KOTM and also introduce new and old Kaiju characters like Gamera, Biollante, Anguirus etc.

Hell if they want to get really crazy bring in characters like Jet Jaguar or maybe even Ultraman if they can't crossover with the Jaeger's from Pacific Rim.

At the end of it all if they want to go for an Endgame level EVENT Destroy All Monsters would definitely make the most sense and hopefully theatres are back to normal by then.

Funnily enough, I got some major Transformers vibe with the team Godzilla subplot. Definitely got dumber watching it though.

Honestly, all the human characters in GvK reminded me of Bay's Transformers movies which is probably why I didn't enjoy that stuff as much.

Maybe its just me, but I wasn't feeling any of that in the previous movies and man I like Brian Tyree Henry, but he hasn't been getting good roles lately outside of Atlanta IMO.

He was basically an even more over the top version/annoying version of Anthony Anderson's character from the first Transformers movie.

I didn't think there was going to be anymore?; didn't the rights to the Toto monsters revert back to Japan?

Edit: There's never going to be a traditional crossover with Pacific Rim either. The two universes are too far apart. They may reboot the two universes as one, but they'll never merge.

He was good in Into the Spider-verse and is in Eternals.

It has a cinemascore of "A". Maybe, people actually genuinely liked it.

This is the last movie in the contract. Given KOTM's performance, it seemed unlikely that Legendary would want to continue. However, GvK's rather spectacular performance is likely causing some rethinking. But even then, there are going to be difficulties with Toho's stated goals of starting up Godzilla movies again.

And Toho is not allowing a crossover with anyone but Kong.

Cinemascore is generally a self selecting survey. Especially during the quarentine.

Most movies get an A to B+ score on there anyway
