The "Game of Thrones" actor is set to star in the untitled comedy pitch that will have a script written by "Bad Words" scribe Andrew Dodge.
Peter Dinklage, who has won a Golden Globe and an Emmy for his portrayal of scheming fan favorite Tyrion Lannister on HBO's hit show Game of Thrones, has signed on to headline an untitled comedy project for Paramount.
The comedy -- to be penned by Andrew Dodge, the writer of Jason Bateman's Toronto Film Festival sensation Bad Words -- will be produced by Mary Parent and Cale Boyter via studio-based Disruption Entertainment.
The project is described as being deep in R-rated territory but wrapped around an emotional heart. Sources say it plays off of Dinklage's size, as the story centers around a man who tells people he is a true leprechaun.
The project is said to be tonally in the vein of Bad Santa, the 2003 comedy featuring Billy Bob Thornton as a department store Santa that was filthy fun with an uplifting ending, and Bad Words, Bateman's directorial debut that featured foul-mouthed kids in a spelling bee.
Parent has recently spent time in tentpole territory, working on Pacific Rim and the upcoming Godzilla. But she has also previously produced the comedies Role Models and You, Me and Dupree.
Dinklage, who next plays Bolivar Trask in X-Men: Days of Future Past, is repped by Insight and Jackoway Tyerman. Dodge is repped by UTA and Fourth Floor Productions.
