The Mystique/Raven Darkhölme Thread

If the world really was about who could best play Mystique Hunter would be amazing as her. But Disney is definitely too chicken for this these days

I really don't want to see Mystique this early into the X-Men reboot.

They might need Mystique in order to initially have villain Rogue to kill off Brie Larson's Captain Marvel.

Nice to see someone go right past the comic accuracy bull**** argument and go straight to the more honest Capt Marvel hate.

It shouldn't be done. There are ways for Rogue to get those powers without doing a story that would be a disservice to both characters.

How else is she supposed to get her flight and superstrength if she doesn't zap it from Captain Marvel? Two birds, one stone.
Maybe that's what they'll do with Sentry after Thunderbolts*...

Is MCU Captain Marvel really that popular? The Marvels flopped and the only reason the first movie did so well is because it was sandwiched between Infinity War and Endgame. Would it have done the same numbers if it had come out post-Endgame?

Disney can get rid of Captain Marvel as part of the story and give Rogue her superstrength and flight whilst serving as the beginning of a redemption arc to get Rogue from the brotherhood to the X-Men.

I think Rogue should absorb Captain Marvel's powers because that makes for a better story. It makes Rogue's redemption story harder if you are a Captain Marvel fan, because you hate what she did to Carol. It makes things more uneasy between The Avengers and the X-Men the X-Men accept Rogue, because Carol's teammates and friends will still think Rogue is a piece of crap for what she did. It creates more drama and conflict. Why do we want to avoid drama and conflict?

You know, Rogue could absorb Carol Danvers' without killing Carol for good. And a x-Woman in their baddie era, killing an Avenger (who had their own solo movie) is just not a good look. Rogue isn't even an Anti-heroine to begin with.

Madelyne Pryde is one of my favorite characters. And yet, I am not advocating for her to appear, because quite frankly, she is unadaptable. And quite frankly X-men 97 did her badly.

The same applies her. Carol losing her powers is a slap in the face of her first movie. I have given up on convincing Rogue fans that the original story has rape parrallels. As it is, the first Captain Marvel movie has made the Rogue story just wrong to do. Captain Marvel is about Carol discovering the power that she was being gaslit from realizing. And to have that taken away? To undermine the first movie in such a way is just bad storytelling.

And I get Rogue fans want the powers. But what gets me is the focus, on this particular moment, that has to be comic accurate, and not be changed for the better of both characters. I just do not understand why this singular moment is so important, when so many other things in the MCU has been changed. And will continue to be changed.

Hell, what gets me is that this becomes the focus of the Mystique thread, when the true question should be, who's going to be Destiny?

This take on Captain Marvel is treated differently as a character then her Ms Marvel days, tho...

An she's way more OP then that version (with a slight twist on her origin story) Rogue with her power set would be kinda broken

Excited for Rebecca Romijn returning!

1. X-Men (2000)
2. X2 (2003)
3. Last Stand (2006)
4. First Class (2011, cameo)
5. Doomsday (2026)

Almost 20 years since X3 came out! That long!

Will she get to say more than 3 sentences!

Cool! I love the idea of an older Mystique.

Now give her her wife!

Looking forward to Rebecca Romijn finally wearing a Mystique comic book costume!

I bet she’ll have the Mystique makeup and prosthetics on her face but wear a mo cap outfit.

Wondering if there will be a callback to her scene in First Class with a Jennifer Lawrence cameo.

There are so many characters especially in X-Men comics with super strength and flight.
