Someone at imdb.com suggested Rowan Atkinson for the role of the gadget-master in the next movie.

Not a bad idea, though I would prefer John Cleese to return.

I lost all respect for John Cleese when he became Q. Desmond Llewelyn will always be Q for me and anyone else will just seem like a cheap imitation, I honestly wouldn't give a damn if the character didn't return.

i say they get Craig Ferguson from the Late Late Show to play Q. he complained about Bond not having any gadgets (his fave element of Bond) so it'd be awesome to see him supply the gadgets for Bond...

...he's also quite the funny chap.

John Cleese likely won't return (there was a falling-out between him and producers). And frankly, I think he'd be out of place in the CraigBond world, since things aren't based around corny dialogue and jokes.

Q, when cast for BOND 2.2, needs to be different than we've seen him before. The old, grumpy guy was done perfectly by Desmond Llewellyn, and anybody who tries that is going to pale in comparison. Somebody needs to step in and reinvent it.

that's why i suggested Craig Ferguson. British, comedic, and expressed his wanting for gadgets to be in Casino Royale. :)

The guy in CR who was in the MI6 computer room, talking to Bond on the cell phone. In my opinion, he could be the next 'Q' per say (He played Brutus on HBO's series 'ROME'). Why the hell do we need a Desmond Llewelyn replacement anyway? Nobody can replace him, so what's the point. Put a fresh take on the Q character.....

Dude, Ferguson was Drew Carey's boss in the Drew Carey Show, wasn't he?

Cleese was a good Q for the Brosnan movies, but in this new vein, they should get someone else.

Bill Nighy comes to mind. Sam Neill was suggested in another thread, that might be cool too!

I'm not sure if there has to be a new Q, and Desmond Lliewelyn was too good to ever be replaced.

Well Q is a staple of the Bond mythos... I think somewhere along the road they need a new one.

I don't think there was anything THAT unique about Llewelyn's performance that the character should never be used again... I mean, he did a great job, but that'd just be a shame.

I wouldn't mind if they didn't give us a new Q. I liked CR better then the other Bond's without the large array of gadgets.

I thought he was the new Moneypenny??

Sam Neil. He could easily portray Q in a more serious manner that would fit the newer, darker tone set up in Casino Royale.

I say bring John Cleese back in. He was wonderful as Q. I wasn't aware he and the producers had a falling out, though...

John Hurt. Great actor and won't make it too cartoony

Hang on let me just find a pic of the guy... I'm pretty sure I was thinking "new Q right there" when he was on, but just let me check...

Oh that's Villiers... I thought he was a Monneypenny substitute...

I thought the other guy on the phone, no clue of his name...

The doctors talking Bond through were played by Crispin Bonham-Carter and Paul Bhattacharjee.

I would rather they just continue on with groups of specialists in their specific fields like in Casino Royale - the doctors, the chip implanter - and not go back to the old formula checkpoint of "Time to Banter With Q!"

Cleese doesn't seem to fit, and maybe they shouldn't try to replace Llewelyn anyway.

The rumor is that Ewan Bremer is in talks to play Major Boothroyd. Personally, I would have liked to have seen Steve Coogan play the role.

hahah this thread is older than that one

.......fair enough. This thread has less posts though so I assumed it had been made after the one I posted the link to.

Anyways, it was simply to point the people who've already posted on this thread to the other thread as they may be interested to read more peoples views on the subject.

If the mods could merge threads then that would be great.
