Well, Ophelia Lovibond (Nowhere Boy, Mr. Popper's Penguins, No Strings Attached) is the last addition to the cast.

She will play an aide to a being called The Collector, who gathers artifacts and beings in the hopes of saving them from a foretold galactic annihilation.

10 to 1 odds say she's playing Carina, daughter of the Collector, and wife of Korvac.

If we get Korvac in either a Guardians or an Avengers sequel, I will do the pant pee dance.

I really hope she is Carina. And I'd be a bit pissed if she's just some random aide to the Collector they've just invented. What a missed opportunity that would be!

I believe Carina's a blonde in the comics, but I don't really mind if Ophelia isn't one here.

In A:EMH, they made Carina just a normal human civilian with no connections to the Collector though. :argh:

There'd be no reason to have Carina without Korvac. Korvac is the only reason she (briefly) existed in the Marvel Universe.

They can just set her character up in this movie, like Ellen Brandt in IM3. Technically, there's no reason to have her in the MCU without Man-Thing...but there she is.

Carina is Collector's daughter, it makes the most sense to have her be the aid rather than some OC or other random character.

Could be.
And as I posted in another thread, we may be jumping the gun by assuming she's Carina anyway. THR reported she's "an aide" to The Collector, and that's obviously not the same thing as "daughter."

But *if* we get confirmation that she's playing Carina, then Korvac's a helluva lot more likely.

Well, I wouldn't mind seeing Korvac, I definitely want to see him get some attention in the films eventually. My only contention is using both him and Thanos at the same time, it's too much. They should go one step at a time imo. Save Korvac for phase 3. It would be a nice follow up to Thanos and would be connected to everything that happened in phase 2. The Collector can even foretell it at the end of Avengers 2.

The MCU will also be more than big enough by A3 to handle a Korvac story, right now it would be too small imo. They can take on Thanos with only 8 Avengers and some of the Guardians, but not Korvac.

Yeah, Korvac and Thanos would be very similar to general audiences --- i.e., uber-godlike cosmic character who can virtually wipe out half the universe by looking at it kinda funny.

Personally, I always found The Korvac Saga relatively boring, so I'm tentatively keeping my fingers crossed that it's not the direction they're taking. Won't be bummed out if they do, but I'd prefer someone else. I think Korvac is the general *gist* of where they're going with this --- i.e., "a prophecy foretold yadda yadda yadda," but they could easily sub Thanos, or Magus, or Annihilus (if they somehow snagged the rights before Fox could for FF), or a lot of other far more interesting cosmic ubervillains.

Yeah. I'm pretty confident we won't see Korvac in this, or at most he will just be hinted at. I think they're going to take a lot of inspiration from the Korcav saga, since it's the only arc that heavily involves both the Guardians and Avengers (ignoring recent developments), but like you said, sub Korvac for Thanos. I'm really holding out hope we see Magus and the UCT somehow as well...that's a lot of villains to fit into the film though, especially if Thanos is the annihilator.

Hmm, thinking along that line, I'm coming around more to your idea of Collector possibly being affiliated with Thanos...or at least him not realizing Thanos is the true annihilator. It would make sense for him to be faked out by Magus and the UCT as being the annihilators, while not realizing the true threat is Thanos until it's too late. It would be a twist for the audience, which I believe you said in another thread, and completely matches with how Thanos was portrayed in the Magus Saga.

Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac! Korvac!

That is all. :yay:

Cool I've had a crush on OPHELIA LOVIBOND since the film 4321.

she's either a Bond girl or a pornstar with that name. Either way I'm excited cause it seems with her casting The Collector was announced officially

She doesn't look like she really has any studio photos on Google. They're all mostly either just stills or at various premieres on the red carpet. She is pretty though.

Benedict Cumberbatch for Korvac :o

I'd actually love for this to lead to Korvac in A2. Hell, they can even have him working with Thanos again if they wanted, although that might be a bit of a retread.

Cumberbatch as Korvac would kill. I think Korvac has enough of a different look from Thanos to be used as well. Korvac is also more budget friendly and actor friendly than Thanos who requires lots of make up, motion capture or CGI. Korvac only needs that when he flickers with energy. The rest of the time he looks human.

But what are the chances of Marvel getting both Saldana and Cumberbatch from Star Trek?

Yeah, I would really love to see Cumberbatch as Korvac (not a supporter of him as Pym/Strange).

And if they did, then Disney would truly be stealing everyone from Star Trek.

Who else other than Saldana have they gotten from Star Trek?

Would be cool having both Korvac and Carina with British accents, especially now they've gotten Ophelia (hopefully that's who she's playing). Maybe the Collector too.

What I'd love to see is a Cumberbatch Korvac acting against Hiddleston's Loki. Cumberbatch is already playing a Korvac-like character in Trek.

Yeah, I'd like to see somebody other than the obvious. Doubt Cumberbatch wants to be typecast in this sort of role.

I'll take that as confirmation that she's NOT one of the Nova Corp.
