Playstation The Official Playstation 5 Thread

I'm kind of glad Santa Monica stick to God of War games. When studios have multiple IPs the wait for a specific one if you have a favourite can become too long, unless they have separate arms working on multiple games. For eg while TLOU has been amazing, it's meant less Uncharted for me which was my second favourite after GoW. And Bethesda are the worst now they have Starfield to go with Fallout and Elder Scrolls. If they take on average 7 years a game it would be 21 years between a mainline game! With 5 year average still 15 years, and I can't imagine the dev time would get any less than 5 years with how big their games get. These studios with a bunch of top IP need to staff up massively so they can work on them concurrently! :yay:

Introducing Project Leonardo for PlayStation 5, a highly customizable accessibility controller kit

Better late than never I guess. Their first-party studios were all boasting about the accessibility options but it was ironic there was no hardware to go along with the software.

I have never kept a console vertical barring the Wii which was intended to be that way (and even then I didn't like doing that).
I did it for the PS2 for a fair while but the novelty of doing it has gone now.

i have my ps4 standing vertical. i thought that was supposed to help keep dust from accumulating inside?

Back when I had the original fat version of the PS2 I would alternate between vertical and horizontal. My PS4 was always horizontal.

I keep my PS5 horizontal because it physically couldn't fit on the shelf it's in were I to have it vertical because it's under my TV. I would stand it vertically if I could because I like the way it looks standing up. Based on its design I can't help but think that it was more intended to be displayed vertically.

Between space and frankly this currently looking like sensationalized clickbait based off an incredibly limited scope, I'll be keeping mine vertical.

Ah brings me back to the days of testing and constantly failing 360s because customers had kept them upright.

Ditto. Bad design/engineering is not uncommon, and with all things related to electronics, some units can be lemons too but I reckon PS5 owners shouldn't worry about this.

Not really. Dust is just particles in the air so ultimately it'll find its way inside any gaming console whether it's laid vertically, horizontally, diagonally, upside-down, inside a cabinet, nailed to the ceiling, hidden under your wooden floor... :hehe:

You can always install a dust filter in the air vents since the fan is intake.

I only have my PS5 vertical when I bring it to my brother's house as he places it next to his tv cause the stand is much wider than the tv so he has a space for it. but when I have it home it is always horizontal as is my xbox series X.

You keep you XSX horizontal? I didn’t know anyone did that :D Curious to see what that looks like.

now you have lol

Ha, thanks. Makes it much easier to fit into cabinets that way. Just be careful off the heat coming off the “top” (top when it’s vertical I mean) so it doesn’t damage anything else.

PS5 Sold 32.1m Consoles But Is Still Trailing Behind PS4

I don't think its going to outsell PS4. I also think aside from improving the stock, there should be more eXclusives, specifically 1st party eXclusives. I think for 2023, its just Spider-Man 2 which would eventually be ported to pc. Wolverine could be delayed to 2025, if it takes longer. Call of the Mountain is a Vr game. Aside from those 3 games, we don't hear anything that isn't a remake or a remaster. Last of Us Multiplayer is probably neXt to be announced but I'm assuming its a live service game.

I'm noticing that PS5 stock is improving. I was at two separate Targets in the last week and I saw a pair of disc drive PS5s in stock at each one behind the glass cabinets so they're not keeping them in the back anymore. Only took two years. :o

In comparison, I saw Series X and S in stores way back in early 2021, no pre orders needed. Last month, I saw them again when I went to a store, last month and they aren't even behind a glass. They are just piled up next to other products.

I went to Best Buy and targets over the weekend and did see them available so I think it’s safe to say they are more available then they have been before

15 minutes for SS is... rough. Pretty certain no Spidey. Probably some RE4 and SF6 stuff, though.
