Playstation The Official Playstation 5 Thread

Wasn't expecting first party. Really hoping for Rebirth.

Let’s see if Sony can top todays Direct.

IMO, not very hard. Direct sucked IMO

That said, not seeing a ton outside of the RE4 stuff on the State of Play articles I was reading. Forgivable though. Spidey is next month

Rebirth looks awesome. Perhaps I'll be fully done with BG3 by the time it comes out.

It's looking harder and harder to find time to finish FF16 and to fit in SM2. A quite unusual problem for me these days, as I'm quite picky with what games I bother with and usually have extended periods of not playing anything at all.

My ps5 stopped working for an unknown reason, it just crashes whenever I start a game or even if I'm in the start menu for too long. System updates don't work and warranty has run out, but luckily Sony offers a repair for about 200 dollars, or a replacement if it cannot be fixed

I'd much rather wait for the pro-model, but Spider-man 2 is coming out in a month and I don't have such self-restraint. I feel like the pro ps5 would've already come out had it not been for covid. Oh well...
Well that sucks. I hope you get a new console (for free) instead though that could mean your files won't be saved?

My Sony TV (2020 model) had a problem, it was turning off by itself and I was literally almost 2 months away from running out of warranty last year. Its weird and quite a hassle when these products are already having major problems when they aren't even that ancient.

Good thing, the official Sony repair office was literally 1 block away in my neighborhood. I just walked for like 5 minutes carrying that big TV by myself.

Far Cry Avatar looks decent. I just don't care.
From a story perspective it more or less looks like it's gonna be a rehash of the first movie. If they stick the landing with the gameplay it could be a fun game, I'm just in no particular rush to play it.

The Avatar game should have been a third person action adventure game. The first person perspective doesn't make sense to me.

I always prefer third person. My excitement for any game where it could be either goes down about 25% when it’s confirmed to be first person.

I guess the silver lining is that the most fun parts of the game seem to be when you're on mounted beasts and those are third person anyway. Everything else seems like your run of the mill FPS.

I just don't see why you're in a body of an Alien and in alien world, and its not in the third person perspective. And you won't see your character walking in third person in that world.

Also Ubisoft should probably give us now the option to select between 1st person and 3rd person. Still not a lot of games do this since GTA V/RDR2.

True, if the main character is anything notable beyond standard soldier then I want to see them and feel like I'm playing them throughout for role playing reasons. Even more so the more unique they are, especially alien/fantasy races. Halo in particular with the main character having a mask and then being first person meant they could reveal to you at the end in the final scene that actually you were playing as your gran the whole time. :D. I don't get as close to characters in first person and that emotional attachment in third helps feel more involved for important parts of the story later.

The other thing I never understood, what is the point of spending hours customising your character to have the perfect look and then you can't see any of it for the vast majority of time you play?

For me, first person works best when I'm using a sniper and the target is in a very far distance. That is something that shouldn't be done in third person.

For some reason, running with a character in first person makes me dizzy. The worst case scenario of this happened to me in Mirror Edge Catalyst. A game where you have to do parkour in an open world in first person, which gave me really a bad headache and it turned out, based from what I searched in the internet, I wasn't the only one that eXperienced that.

I also tried driving cars in 1st person in GTA V several times and its not a good eXperience imo. I feel like gaming technology has advanced so much, plenty of big games have a photo mode, most big games have cutscenes that can be altered with your desired costume/character look, but there's still not a lot of games that offer the option to switch between 1st/3rd person.
