Electric guitar laser weapon - there's the Kojima-ism in case anyone was worried things were getting too normal. :funny:

I don't really care about Death Stranding, but then Kojima has to say he's basically making a new Metal Gear. You *******s! :argh:

I like that this State of Play at least felt more in the style of traditional Sony showcases without live service crap drowning everything out.

Out of the games shown, Death Stranding 2 On the Beach is the most visually impressive (expectedly), and the only one from those games, I plan to play. However that presentation was information overload that I didn't really understand it. And its another game confirmed for 2025 instead of 2024.

The other Sony eXclusives don't really appeal to me. Rise of the Ronin looks like a less impressive Ghost of Tsushima. Helldivers requires PS Plus? Stellar Blade is one of those fantasy games that just don't appeal to me, gameplay/visually. Silent Hill 2/Until Dawn would just stress me out.

It’s Kojima, you’re not supposed to understand. Information overload is his warmup before he cycles through the various epic levels of ridiculous. No sense will be made at any point throughout this game, that much I guarantee. :cwink:

I liked what I saw of Ronin, but I love Ghost. Catching up on the other stuff I missed from the beginning now.

It's confusingly referred to both as a remake and a remaster in the press. A remaster makes perfect sense, a remake not so much.
Yeah, a remaster I totally get. Curious to see when they clarify.
These should be technical terms that they don’t confuse, it’s important!

I think the upcoming Until Dawn movie is also a factor. Anyway, this is Sony, they'lll remaster/remake/rebuild/port to the newer console (and now PC) their classics all the time.

Oh I didn’t even know there was a film coming up.

Sony do love this business model. It seems to make good money given the significantly reduced costs involved.

The Short Message is showing up on the PS app storefront, but it crashes when trying to open the page. The search on PS5 store isn't working either. I was supposed to go to bed, but man... A new Silent Hill could be out any minute now.

Edit.

It's out!! I have to try this thing.
I had no idea they were stealth dropping it! Ha, hope you enjoy it.

The announcements were good today but still no heavy hitters for Sony this year besides FF I didn’t see a 2024 release for SH2 but the new SH game being available tonight is awesome

There are no Sony heavyhitters this year. The neXt Final Fantasy game is a Square EniX game and PlayStation Studios don't get a credit from it unlike with games like Death Stranding 2 On the Beach and Rise of the Ronin.

I'm hoping for a State of Play in the summer. Though if there's a big game reveal, it would probably be out in 2026 or 2027, instead of 2025.

*Will be part of the PS6 family of devices. I find the PS Portal as a hard sell. If this new device will have PS4 to 6 games be played on the go, then that would be great.

I eXcluded remasters / eXpanded collections. With the PS6 eXpected to be released in 2028 (Q4 probably). I don't think we would see plenty of big games from "PlayStation Studios" from 2026 to mid 2028. I can only think of Wolverine, Ghost of Tsushima Returns and the neXt Naughty Dog game right now. There's still the neXt game from Bend Studio, Bluepoint and maybe Horizon 3? But not a lot.

Phil Spencer, Microsoft Gaming CEO: “We're listening and we hear you. We've been planning a business update event for next week, where we look forward to sharing more details with you about our vision for the future of Xbox. Stay tuned.”

I don’t see this happening and if it does I don’t like it
Given Phil Spencer didn't flat out deny it and is saying all will be revealed next week, there's probably some truth to all these reports that have come out the last few days.

Feels like there is something significant to it all. Could suck massively for me after all these years in the platform and a ton of money spent and years of achievements. :csad:

How is it bad that Xbox games will available on other platforms? They're clearly going all in on Gamepass, and are more concerned with having more subscribers than selling consoles (as they clearly can't keep up with Sony or Nintendo).

The real cause for concern is them phasing out the disc drive on Series X, which means going forward your physical library will become useless.

MS strategy is kind of weird when they claim the Gamepass loses them money.
Going all in on the Gamepass therefore, strikes me as a weird choice.
But it seems the XBOX is still not making them any money and i dont see how that could change, there arent enough games for it that are really a must have imo.

Yeah, the bigger problem to me is that going away from Physical could be very bad.
But also, it would kind of suck to see the XBOX kind of vanish.

Im not a fan of the Console war, but i just love the idea of Video Game Consoles and losing another one, would suck.
