Playstation The Official Playstation 5 Thread

Sony could earn a lot of money if they capitalize on making a lot more variant plates, especially if there are customed plates for big Ps5 games.

Well this ain't reassuring
Unfortunately seems the case across the board. Lower quality games designed with monetisation in mind above all else and way above artistic merit is the order of the day at the moment.

PlayStation had made a name for themself with the whole, single player, third person, story driven entertainment. Pivoting to these lower quality games didn't make any sense for them, even with monetization in mind.

Yep, that’s why despite being happy for Helldiver’s success it’s a double edged sword if it gives them more confidence in those plans and leads to them putting large amounts of their budget for games into those kinds of games.

I got the first set of darkplates for someone's birthday and he was very happy with it

I think I have said this before but Helldivers 2 is the exception, not the norm. Instead of investing in more and more of those types of games, they should invest ONLY in Helldivers 2 to make sure its player base remains steady, and focus the rest of their cash flow on their other games.

This is wonderful but we have to be an expert to pull that off with our consoles.
You can get the UV lamps and 12% hydrogen peroxide on Amazon, so you can at least retrobrite your old console.

another one bites the dust
Not one studio, but two! Absolutely ****ing brutal... Hopefully those affected will land somewhere quickly.

Firewalk
Neon Koi
Pixelopus
London Studio
Japan Studio

What I noticed is, its always the least popular studios getting the axe. Which makes me think Sony shouldn't create or acquire another gaming studio, unless its already popular. It would be good to know if the people from those studios were transfered to the more popular studios, so the games for those studios would be released sooner than later.

Videogame industry is brutal, well the entire entertainment industry is. Its basically the survival of the fittest.

I guess that rumor of Sony acquiring Take Two is completely dead now.

I think Media Molecule, Bend Studio and Haven are next, if their new game doesn't do well.

I've checked the Wikipedia page of PS Studios and it shows 19 active studios. A handful of studios are either support studios (which don't release their own games) and Firesprite (PC ports). The rest have their ongoing franchise.
