Playstation The Official Playstation 5 Thread

What I though was interesting:

Project Athia. Luminous Studio and all, this thing doesn't come anytime soon. Probably the most impressive game visuall so far.

Resident VIII. I never liked Chris Redfield and I wish they used someone else or crafted a new protagonist. But the setting looks freaking great. Looking forward to exploring it.

Demon's Souls. I don't like remakes, but maybe if this one is a show piece for the next gen hardware - I'll get it.

Pragmata looked intriguing. No idea what it is, but looked refined.

Kena and Goodbye Volcano High - I might give them a shot, I liked their art style.

But overall none of these compare to the two games that come out this year - Cyberpunk and The Last of Us Part II.

A lot of the issues is the limitations for streaming. The PS5 stream was only running at 30fps, so that is going to limit things.

Whilst true, I gotta say this is the first time in my life I’m not feeling the need to make a console upgrade anytime soon. Every previous generation felt like something new was being brought to the table. My mind for this is just like ‘oh, that’s nice’. Dunno, my gut is starting to tell me there’s little innovation left that can be gleamed with gaming consoles.

I'm all digital and if the discless version is cheaper then I'll probably get that but I like having options. So don't know to really feel

This generation is about minute details not obvious pixel increases. Things like ray tracing, more realistic physics, 1 to 1 digital recreations of real world objects and environments, more stable framerates, lossless dolby atmos audio...

The PS4 and XOne launched with hardware and capabilities that were behind gaming PCs at the time. This PS5 and the XsX are just catching up to gaming PCs and still trailing behind in some areas. So I'd say there is still much that consoles need to improve on.

I have to get the disc version since some of my PS4 games are on disc.

I thought Rachet & Clank really looks like next gen. The one with the ragdoll as well. They might not be "photo realistic" but it looks like the future of GAMING to me. GodFall, though I was underwhelmed and theydidnt edit the footage very well. It looked like a 20 sec TV ad. I'm gonna pass on the horror/suspensegames as those games would stress me out. But I'm getting Village bcos its RE.

I wish Ubisoft joined this streaming. Lots of theirupcoming games are still dateless.

yeah, I think we're reaching the point of diminishing returns when it comes to leaps in graphics.

Chris Redfield is favorite Resident Evil character and so I'm always happy when he's a protagonist or has a big role. Now he's buffed up as a powerhouse, so that's cool too

Thanks to PS Plus and sales I was able to rebuy most of my PS4 library on digital. Plus I expect after PS5 launches there will be steep discount sales on digital versions of PS4 games.

The vast majority of people I doubt care for such specifics.

I've never played a Rachet game before, but I will definitely give this a try. I think all the "dimension warping" will be a good showcase for the speed of the SSD. If it lets us warp to new worlds that load instantly and seamlessly in real time, that would be something.

hope Ratchet will be a launch title. think it would serve that spot well, along with Gran Turismo 7 and Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Ratchet
Gran Turismo
Spider-Man: MM
Godfall

Plus a few 3rd party titles, multiplat (like AC Valhalla) or exclusive.

That would be a pretty solid launch lineup, imo. Throw in some kind of fighting game, and I'll be good.

I know we just saw Claire, Leon and Jill in the remakes. But Chris in another numbered game? He appeared in 5, 6 and 7.

All of my ps4 games are on disc, so yeah this isn't a choice to me.
This plus it'll be good to have another 4k blu-ray player. Digital still isn't good for 4k for me.

One reason why I overall prefer those game than the remakes and spin-offs

That's where good marketing factors in.

If I’m a mother of 2 I doubt I’m caring about things like framerates or ray tracing, no matter how well marketed it is, because that’s honestly nerdy stuff that only diehards really care about.

So yeah, it can be placed on side, only again with a stand. :( It's just not practical. Almost makes me want to wait for a redesign or Pro version.

So if I'm correct, all the exclusives revealed so far are just sequels/existing franchises?

Not counting timed exclusives like Project Athia, of course.

Not on paper obviously. But if seeing is believing--having a console look smoother, clearer, and competitively priced would sway the consumer for sure.

It's how OLED & QLED flatscreens--still wows the onlookers eventhough the price range is insane for the average joe, at your local Best Buy.
