The Official XBLA Update Thread

I want to get something for my avatar, but I keep thinking that there'll be better stuff coming the future, so I'm holding it off for now.

I do kind of like the skeleton suit. It looks cool with the lightsaber.

Looks like Gearbox might be working on a XBLA game.

Social Networking can be a tricky thing sometimes - you may accidentally mention something you weren't meant to.

That's what has happened with one of Gearbox's level designers, who via Twitter casually mentioned that a fellow Gearbox developer showed him "Our XBLA character rigged" and that it made him "incredibly happy". In earlier tweets this designer also asked which Xbox Live Arcade games his followers played, and for what reasons.

They're not :(

We're not too proud to imagine we're the only video game blog you read (no, really ... it's okay, we understand). As such, earlier today, you might have read a story elsewhere speculating that Gearbox was busy working on an XBLA game. The rumor began as the result of a Twitter update from Gearbox level designer Zach Ford, which mentioned that he had just seen "our XBLA character rigged." We decided to contact Ford to see just what it was he was talking about, and he was nice enough to clear things up.

"This is just a side project where we're trying to expand our skill sets," Ford told Joystiq. "The project is in no way affiliated with GBX. Just something to play around with after work." So there you have it, no XBLA games on the way from Gearbox -- at least not officially. Now go back to Borderlands.

When will we get avatar items related to MUA2? I really want my avatar to dress up as Thor or Iron Man.

Looks like Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project is coming to the XBLA

This news comes courtesy of the Linkedin profile of Rebecca Heineman, one of the founding members of Interplay back in 1983 and programmer of such classics as The Bards Tale III. Rebecca currently resides as Lead Software Development Engineer at Microsoft.

In her LinkedIn profile, as well as a cached versionof a forum post, she suggests that she's been working on bringing Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project to the Xbox Live Arcade.

They said they have no plans on releasing anything like that.

That sux. :csad: They can make alot of money if they do that.

Btw, I'm thinking about getting MC2 avatar costume for my guy, but I can't decide between that and Mass Effect. If only it doesn't cost 400 MS, then maybe I'll buy more than one.

Does anyone know how to retrieve Arcade games that I bought but lost when I had to return my 360 to Microsoft due to the RROD. I tried retrieving them like it says in the main menu of the game but once i do it doesn't change anything it still says "trial version" and only asks me again to try an unlock the full game again. I haven't been able to play Sonic 1 and 2 nor Streets of Rage 2 an I've been itching to play those recently.

Ahh cool thanks I'll have to try that when I get home, thanks Geo

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/14/square-enix-plans-0-day-attack-on-earth-for-dec-23/

Square Enix is swooping in like some kind of Tetsuya Nomura-designed Santa Claus and delivering the world what it wants -- nay, needs -- just in time for the hap-hap-happiest time of the year: a twin-stick shooter for Xbox Live Arcade. Its been announced via the game's official Twitter feed that 0 Day Attack in Earth will invade the Xbox Live Marketplace on December 3.
Like Sony's The Last Guy, 0 Day Attack on Earth uses satellite photography for its real-world city battle zones -- only players are tooling around high above the ground blasting ginormous alien invaders with a friend, or just solo. We went hands-in with the game at TGS 2009 and found it to be ... well, the verdict's still out of this world.

I know I'm really late to this one but I just bought I made a game with zombies in it last night. Wow what a fantastic game, if Microsoft was smart they'd purchase that and make it into an actual XBLA game. It's really addicting and incredibly fun

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/27/todays-xbox-live-deal-50-off-all-fallout-3-dlc/

Watch your head, folks, because prices are falling. Today's Xbox Live holiday deal of the day is targeted directly at DLC for Bethesda's critical and commercial darling, Fallout 3. If you're looking to add more intense VATS-related action to the RPG, each add-on pack is available for 400
microsoftpointslogosmall.gif
($5) a piece -- a 50% savings of your Microsoft-branded space bucks.

New to the Fallout 3 universe? There are five DLC add-on packs for the (already) lengthy RPG. Arguably the most important -- and one you should tackle first -- is Broken Steel, which increases the game's overall level cap to 30 and allows players to continue playing beyond the conclusion. Also, a Game of the Year edition is available in stores, which includes all of Fallout 3's downloadable content -- making it cheaper if you don't already own the game to begin with.

Joy Ride - Developed by BigPark

Put your avatar behind the wheel of a vehicle you select and customize to match your personal style, and drive your avatar WILD. Trick out your avatar with styles and animations to guarantee you'll stand out in the crowd. The game universe constantly evolves and expands with new downloadable content, including new stunt parks, tracks, cars, car upgrades, avatar clothing and animations, and new events. Once you're all customized, take your avatar out for a spin. Make friends around the world as you catch huge air, pull off crazy stunts, and participate in fun community events. The great thing about this game...it´s free, with microtransactions

Comic Jumper - The Adventures of Captain Smiley - Developed by Twisted Pixel

There isn´t much info on this game, not even if it´s going to the XBLA, but, looking at their previous games (The Maw and 'Splosion Man), it looks like it will fall on the Microsoft console. So, far all that is know is that the gameplay and looks will change depending on the level. It was also said by the developes that this is “an experience unlike any other.”

For the ones that don´t know, Vandal Hearts is also going to the PSN and was delayed from last Nov.

Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgment - Developed by Hijinx Studios, published by Konami

The game it´s a prequel, takes place on the same continent as the original and ties into the story we played way back on the original PlayStation. They also say it´s big for a downloadable game, with 10-12 hours. On the continent of Sostegaria, two rival kingdoms stand on the brink of war. Caught in the tide of battle is young orphan Tobias Martin. Driven to defend his homeland, and to avenge those already fallen, Tobias enlists with his comrades to fight for peace. But all is not what it seems, and they face a threat far deadlier -- and closer -- than they know.
The rich storyline of Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgment expands the universe, serving as the prequel to the original Vandal Hearts. Flames of Judgment combines the speedy RPG pace of the original with easily accessible user mechanics and sleek presentation design
