The Phantom

I really like the Phantom's new look....let's face it, his old costume was just plain ugly. It needed a lot of work.

I think this actually may be a really interesting mini-series.
You like paint ball gear over a standout costume? To each his own I guess. To me its like replacing Spider-Man red and blue spandex costume with normal cloths and a bag over his head...wait.

The whole point of the Phantom is his legecy. Hes the damn "Ghost who walks" he supposed to wear the same costume that his fathers father wore. Not go "Oh, the old costume sucks. I'm going to the sporting goods store, and replacing it with **** that looks nothing like the old one. Cus I don't respect my family name."

Its like what if Dick Greyson said F it Im not going to dress in Bruces costume to keep the legend of Batman alive. My going to just put whatever I want on, as long as it looks nothing like a Bat.

well the legend endured because the Phantom stayed in the same place, which was Africa, so people just thought it was the same guy.....maybe there hasn't been a Phantom in a long time or something...but Im with you deathshead...the whole point of the character is legacy and family

i'll watch it. i heard that hollywood is making a sequal to the live action moive.

Well, there are some differences between Dick's Batman costume and Bruce's. But the major iconography is still there--cape, bat on the chest, pointy ears, utility belt. I don't mind some cosmetic changes, but the new Phantom costume completely overhauls the original, to the point that it loses its identity and spirit. I would not look at that costume and think, "Oh, that's a new Phantom."

He looks ready to fight crime in 20 below zero weather.

His costume just looks strange. I don't know what they're going for. The face...area...is a mess. It's not a helmet, but looks about as mobile as one...I'd need an explanation on what they're going for, because it's not working for me at all. He just doesn't look like The Phantom, at all. Even the furistic Phantom designs I've seen from the comics and the Phantom cartoon kept alot of the classic look.

I haven't read the new comics yet, Im trade waiting.

At least Dick is keeping what makes Batman, Batman. This Phantom besides the belt looks like a last min halloween costume tossed together out of junk. No, respect for any legecy. While Dick who wants his own look to let people know there's a new Batman, at least when you look at him he looks like Batman.

If I wasn't following this mini series, and someone showed me the pictures. I would most likely say thats a poorly put together Night Trasher costume, and ask if this is someones joke at trying to make a fanfilm?

I'd just think it was a normal extreme sports guy who happens to like purple. I would expect him to hop onto a dirt bike rather than fight crime.

KryptonSite also says that...

Dude doesn't even look like he can move in that joint!

Well, at least he won't get hurt when he takes it out to play paintball.

That is what EOD units will look like in the future..

So I'm the only one who's noticed with the angles on the visor and the shape of the hood he looks like a conehead.

he looks like he belongs on a BDSM video set

There's nothing BDSM about that suit.

While I hate it as much as most of us, I'm kind of tired of people always complaining about revisions of superhero costumes being BDSM if they've got even a slither of leather or something. It's almost always unfounded anyway.

and you know this how??

I don't mind changes, as long they retain even a bit of the original costume and that suit doesn't

While there are full-body BDSM suits in BDSM culture, I've yet to see one that looks like the SyFy Phantom costume. It'd be something a lot more form-fitting where you'd see more detail of the wearer's body. Furthermore, it wouldn't have protective pads and chestplates. Hell, the traditional comic costume (pretty much ANY traditional comic costume) would be considered closer in comparison to BDSM than what's presented for this series.

It'd be a more practical comparison to say the costume looks something like this (at least certain elements):

Most of us (including myself) are in agreement with that fact. My issue is what people use as a comparison whenever similar changes to a superhero costume are made. Like when the suits for the first X-Men movie were shown before the film came out, and people compared them to the outfits from the Matrix, and the only characteristic they shared was that the suits were black.

So did anyone was this? I think I'll pass on part two. The first part was not great, and that suit.....................yeah, I'm going to pass on this.

I didn't even realized it had started!!!! :hehe::hehe::hehe:

It was on last night, 8-930pm, can't remember the channel. Was switching between it and the Canada WJC exhibition game.
