I don't know about you, but I've tried to maintain this thread as focused on the topic as possible

so please, avoid the stuff that happened two pages ago

namely, Toven, please don't be so *****y, at least not here, and sinewave, et al... don't play along

and slipknot, we don't want your music, it sucks

so i downloaded the rest of the SubPop-ized Wolf Parade album...

...and man. i feel the same way i did about it as i did the other day. It becoems even more obvious upon listening to all the re-recorded versions of their old songs.
The thing that sucks is i can tell they're still writing great stuff -but it doesnt sound great.


It's not awful. On songs like "i'll believe in anything" i almost forget about the compression half way through...but part of me wishes i could hear the demos for all these new songs. because as good as they are- i know the demos probably kick more ass.

but I'm an unabashed lo-fi crusader...what do i know? 4 times out of 5 i'll take the demos over the finished songs.

l dont really like Wold Parade either, l listened to a few of their songs and they are medicore, if even.

I'm with ya, man. I much prefer a rough and raw cut over a polished, compressed sound.

of the rest, most of the songs on the album were released previously. and in every case the original versions are better.

I'm listening to The Libertines, and maybe it's me, but I didn't like them that much, although they've been praised as the band that saved rock and roll and the next beatles and stuff like that

but they sounded kinda "blah" to me...

hey i was meaing to ask you, based on your recomendations for best album of 2005, have you listened to half of those albums? because i downloaded every one, and out of the 4 or so I listened to, each and every one was absolutely terrible and not worth mentioning in the top 100 let along best album category.
